Still living in 200X I'm a professional UI designer / programmer working on an indie game in my free time. I also do a lot of 3D modeling. #godot #blender #gamedev #indiedev #art

Most environment art I've shown is from level1. There's a reason for that. Starting out I needed to learn how to make maps. After level1 I built tools to make the process faster. This room took a week and most of it was time spent making modular tiles #godot #gamedev #indiedev #screenshotsaturday

Time attack is a big part of my game, and I found a problem. If this boss does not use a certain move, you're not getting the best time. So you can now bait it into charging by running away. Then you can use the boom box weapon (it's weakness!) and knock it over #godot #gamedev #screenshotsaturday

I'm at that point where the gizmos stop looking intimidating and just look like the coolest thing ever.
A screenshot of a scene in the godot editor. There's an untextured warehouse room in the scene. In the center is a transform gizmo, a reflection probe, a bunch of baked ambient light probes, and also the main mesh of the scene is outlined purple wireframe. The purple represents the occluder instance. There's also some cyan wireframes under a ledge. Those are part of the navmesh.

There's some wacky stuff going on in the test room. Who programmed this anyway? ...Don't answer that. #godot #gamedev #indiedev

I added an attract mode to the the game. I think this is really underrated teaching tool. There are so many tricks I've learned about games just by watching demos on the title screen. Also, the game has a physical sun now with a lensflare shader. #godot #gamedev #indiedev #screenshotsaturday

Trickboosts. They never see it coming. Boosting through enemies wasn't always in the game. It started when I switched to Godot, because the engine insists on keeping everything in the physics step. At first I didn't like it, but it led to my favorite mechanic so far. #godot #gamedev #indiedev

Only Multimedia Fusion veterans will understand what this comment means. Also, if you do get it, don't worry. This is code is for a minigame. Not the main one. I'm not that weird.
A screenshot of a c# comment that just says the term "SINGLE FRAME GAME DESIGN". This concept was seen a lot in the MultiMedia Fusion community, and relates to when and where code was allowed to reference objects. Code was executed per-room, or "frame", and there was no way to share code across frames. So to get around this, lots of developers made custom level editors that allowed them to bring their whole game into a single frame. This let them scope their code in a global way, but when doing this, the frame editor would become useless. These were dark times.

It's a small thing, but the game has dynamic controller icons now. You can select your preferred wingdings from the input mapper screen. #godot #gamedev #indiedev

I finally got around to making the input mapper screen, so that means that the settings menu is mostly done. You can play with a controller or a keyboard, but you really should be using a controller. I designed the game around analog movement. #godot #gamedev #indiedev

All over the game world you can find figure tokens. If you spend them at a figure machine, you can unlock characters in the model viewer. It's just a fun extra I wanted to add. Collectibles never gate progression. #godot #gamedev #indiedev

Godot has a cool trick you can do when taking screenshots. If you set the viewport background to transparent before capturing a frame, you can render out models with an alpha background. So if you ever wanted to do all of your key art in-engine you absolutely could. #godot #gamedev #indiedev
A screenshot of an in-engine render of Dice (a character from my game). I'm sorry. I tried to upload a real transparent png but Bluesky wouldn't let me. You're just going to have to trust me on this one.

Enemies have 3 chances to drop items, but they can only do it once. If they're destroyed, shaken, or if you throw a weapon you stole from them. If you're doing poorly in a stage and need health, try throwing your weapon! I call this drop storage. #godot #gamedev #indiedev

This is my sense of humor in 2026. Also it works for some reason. Why?
A screenshot of the event editor in Multimedia Fusion 2. In it, we can see an event in which an opengl display list is called. It's taking the texture from an object in the frame editor and mapping it to a quad in the opengl context. This means we can directly map 2D HUD elements into the 3D world. All in a 2D game engine NEVER designed for such a thing.

I've shown this effect before, but there's something else that's cool about it. There's nothing stopping me from placing these fake windows in front of walls. This is how the doors to other maps work. I didn't model any openings. #godot #gamedev #indiedev #screenshotsaturday

My game has unlockable mini-games in the form of arcade cabinets. These are all older titles I worked on solo. EchoWave was made for a game jam in 2017. I only started using Godot a few years ago, so all of these are ports. #godot #gamedev #indiedev

When learning to make skyboxes I discovered that I could export a single cloud. I use those cloud textures to make it look like the game's environment is on top of them. It really helps sell the floating city setting. #godot #gamedev #indiedev #screenshotsaturday

It probably goes without saying, but the faces on my characters can be swapped independently from the skeletal animations. Also, every expression has lipflaps and blink frames to go with them. So I can make them talk at any time and they’ll randomly blink during cutscenes. #godot #gamedev #indiedev

All of the areas in the stages menu have a thumbnail next to them. Only 1 stage is complete enough to have an entry, but here’s what it looks like. #godot #gamedev #indiedev
A screenshot of a 3D level in Godot. In it, we can see buildings with large overhangs, rails, a small house, and a large wall. In front of the wall is a ramp that has some kind of machine inside. Large gears can be seen turning behind some bars. A floating land mass can also be seen off to the left.A screenshot of an in-game menu. The menu header reads "Stages". There is 1 entry in the list titled "Gear-head heist". A thumbnail of the stage can be seen on the right side of the ui with the text "no rank data" below it. This thumbnail is the screenshot mentioned earlier in this post.

My early builds had the tutorial take place across 2 scenes. The finished version combined them. Having everything in 1 map made it flow better. That early prototype was built in different engine. Moving it to Godot got me to rethink a lot of things. #godot #gamdev #indiedev

The guard cutscene. Making this made me realize I needed to build my own tools. Notice how we start in a dialogue event and end in a different shot with a character moving? Switching between states like that isn’t the easiest thing to do. #godot #gamedev #indiedev #screenshotsaturday

The current town blockout. This place is a hub. The levels are mostly linear, but the areas connecting them aren't. It already has progression. There are lots of place-holder events, but you can get to the end of level 2 even though there isn't much here yet. #godot #gamedev #indiedev
