Finally getting around to watching The Rehearsal, and I'd been racking my mind what Nathan Fielder and his methodology reminds me of, and then it hit me.

A still from Ghostbusters 2 where Egon Spengler is running experiments to study people's emotions and suggests separating a young girl from her puppy as he observes.

Overcoming my chippy fomo and resentment at NYCC happening without ME by booking my flights to Thought Bubble. Would love to go back, especially to Mamdani's fabled EN WHY FOCKIN-SEE utopia. but am still reeeealll iffy about travelling stateside, and bankrupting myself for in-person cul-de-sacs.

I still need to find 7-8 regular/monthly lettering gigs to enable me to continue paying my mortgage! My experience includes: • 23 years as a full-time letterer for Marvel, DC, Image, etc • 30 years handling print/pre-press/production tasks • 20 years hitting non-stop weekly deadlines for 2000AD

Broadly though, Carnivac would have defected because he aligned more with that what Tarantulas was representing with the Chimeracons - he didn't defect TO the Decepticons - and Magnus had invested time and trust in CVac, seeing him as an excellent officer he wished he could retain. Hope that helps!

Nick Roche @nickroche.bsky.social · 05/10/2026

Hey! Good questions, but the answers will not satisfy! I didn't need to know any of those details in depth to write the story, just needed to decide they had happened. Unless I was writing THOSE stories - the defection itself for example - I don't spend unpaid time on filling in the canon gaps.

Aw dude, that's a rough way to be treated if that's their reasoning. It sucks that in the world of comics and cons, individual artists feel afraid to speak up about poor treatment. I really hope some of the other TFCon artists see this and maybe stick by you.

Unless there's a switcheroo coming where they say "EJ, you don't need to apply, here's your table, your travel costs and accommodation". I know no one is owed anything, but this seems like a rake in their own faces. It's... EJ fuckin Su

I'm fond of both old meringues, but the people calling Richard E Grant a 'Great Actor' are likely the same people that call Stephen Fry an 'intellectual'
