Nice morning for a flight

View from about 3500 ft over the San Francisco peninsula. Crystal Springs and I-280 are in the foreground. Off in the distance are SFO airport, San Bruno Mountain, and San Francisco covered in haze

Looking east over the San Francisco Bay, the homes of Atherton and Redwood City are below. There's a white patch beyond which are salt ponds, and the bay beyond that. Off in the far distance, Mount Diablo stands over the haze covering east bay.

I love how my flying club's maintenance team sends post-mortem emails about issues I report

"Resolution: We have been monitoring this since this squawk came in, but after all of our testing we could not find a clear cause. However, one of the annunciators finally came on so we replaced that vacuum pump and it fixed the issue. Strangely, the pump was still working, but was so worn it was just not pushing enough air to create a good vacuum. Usually when a vacuum pump fails it completely breaks inside. We have never before seen what happened with this one."

I've liberated the LM940's display and USB cable from its stand and got it mounted under my monitor. Nano tape FTW

First Electronics Flea Market of the year! It's amazing how you find stuff you didn't know you needed until you ask about them. Picked up this HP retail display for 5 bux, and a piece of Netgear history.

A 2x20 character display which usually shows the scanned item and price at a cash register, but it says "What up, nerds?" instead

Flew my first cross-country flight as a student pilot yesterday! San Carlos to Paso Robles, CA. Felt like my first "real" flight with all the planning and navigation involved. #flying #aviation

Pinnacles National Park from 5500 feet. The mountains are sharp, jagged rocks which stick up from the surrounding terrain.
