Pretty crazy to see a logo you designed placed right next to google within a week. Shoutout to @arrowtype.bsky.social!

I've always been interested in the framework but found the onramp a bit bumpy, it's really nice to read such clear articulation of a direct connection between why, how, what!

TL;DR I'm going to write more and no one is going to read it but that's okay.

My muscle memory is fucked up in such a way that I expect “⌘K, ⌘K” to toggle the font size / leading between “code review”, “writing code”, and “actually just one function” presets 🙃 But I’ll try it! Thank you 🙌

Im using lazyvim, in iterm2 But I’m working on some personal projects where the goal is creativity, and hitting a key where something unexpected happens completely kills the flow

I did but tab completion just is not as good as I remember it!

I’ll give it a shot!

Is there any editor that has pre-copilot / pre-llm vscode tab completions? They ruined it.

TBH the only thing in my way are nagging-Virgo-brain questions like “what corporate shape and legal agreements need to exist” and “how to make it structurally impossible for bad actors including potentially myself from breaking it later”

And then "subscribe" is client side oauth to just write the site.standard.graph.subscription record. Drawback is you don't get the nice "unsubscribe" that sequoia's webcomponent gives you.

Site is sveltekit, hosted on cloudflare currently. General shape looks like: 1. Push the records for any new blog posts to our PDS 2. Build the site and inject the meta tags 3. Request the dynamic OG images and push those to the PDS too

I tried sequoia.pub, and it's a nice DX but causes an unbranded interstitial page (their appview I think?), so then just decided to do some hand rolled stuff around @mary.my.id's atcute github.com/mary-ext/atc...

My take on StyleX is: I'm not gonna hear about the benefits of optimizing a few kilobytes of CSS from people who are still using React.

Anyways I do believe it could cure cancer, let me vacation on the moon before I die, and has already drastically reduced the barrier to people making things. It’s net good tech, but so over inflated / rushed that the bubble popping or experiments failing could ultracancel out any of those pluses.

nn @nicknoble.works · 09/09/2026
At least for the manhattan project they didn’t have financial incentives, let alone massive ones, really all they had was some moral gasoline and potential bragging rights (and even those were in question because it was classified).

nn @nicknoble.works · 09/09/2026
“Either my monopoly RSUs become a bajillion dollars or everyone’s dead and can’t be mad at me” is like, literally, the worst possible set of incentives I could conceive of for anyone working on this stuff.
100
nn @nicknoble.works · 09/09/2026
My problem du jour is that due to compounding tech, it’s increasingly centralized, and the incentives are bad.

nn @nicknoble.works · 09/09/2026
Then it’s “who gets to decide what’s undesirable?” It’s the same problem for all of human history, who gets to control the means of production, and who gets to slide the Overton window? The answer *always* matches Some<Human> eventually.
110
nn @nicknoble.works · 09/09/2026
It’s either always the human’s accountability, or LLMs are back to being entities, not tools. Then it’s nature vs nurture. Are LLMs psychopaths or did humans just not make undesired states unrepresentable enough?
100
nn @nicknoble.works · 09/09/2026
“Architecturally Psychopathic” is both a fantastic way of describing LLMs but also anthropomorphizing? Like, a kitchen knife also doesn’t care what it cuts. Is it a psychopath? Agent loops get weird. It has to start with some human input at some point. Then what?
