Worked nightshift in a servo 2004-06; vividly remember a night when millions of bogongs came under the door. Sweep; another inch thick layer had formed again. Then I didn't see another for 20 years. Was discussing as one of those in-lifetime ecological collapses just last week. I wish them well.

This just popped into mind and it makes me laugh for a number of reasons, primarily the "yes, that would be technically true Karn would be an expert on that subject, I guess"

Return to Sleepaway Camp (2008) is on Tubi if you're thinking of watching something shorter in his honour

~~~ train of thought ~~~ Newcastle Herald wine reviews. The reviewer who, presumably, had a penchant for licking bricks and could describe a Hunter Verdelho as having the 'scent of a newborn child'
There are two exceptions to/that prove this rule, ultimately from a related source: the 10/10 Save Ferris review and the review that led to this piece [www.theringer.com/2024/04/02/music/…]
Species (and Species II) are terrific examples of 90's mainstream sleaze. Separately, NCIS (a show I've never watched but one of the most successful network TV shows ever) is a spin-off of JAG (think I watched an episode in high school...).
30 years later, I'm still the guy saying Kaufman/Gunn's Tromeo and Juliet (1995) is better, sincerely.
Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23 was an underrated sitcom. James van der Beek was excellent in it, and it's sad that he is gone so young.
Explaining mutually assured destruction with dildos, plus a soundtrack heavily leaning on The Buzzcocks, is a pretty good starter...
I have *a lot* to say about this genre, but my most earnest requestbis you watch The Party Animal which is genuinely great
Apropos of nothing, thinking about the long forgotten Josie and the Pussycats film where sinister executives develop technology to manipulate thought and information ostensibly to make money amorally but really because they hope to force people to like them www.youtube.com/watch?v=-duh...
Tangent: there's a van on our street with faded stickers for lacrosse and Info Wars, the latter of which once featured Billy Corgan.
I couldn't translate the linked article but the image and date immediately made me think it's referencing 1983's Jaws 3(D) and Friday the 13th Part 3. The latter had the best-worst 3D effect I've ever seen youtu.be/vsHas1cRGKc?...
You can (should) love him for this alone. Would add that there's an earnest love for the medium that even if you did disagree with him it's coming from a sincere place and I miss criticism like that.
Maybe it's the Origin talking, but Jean Gabin (right) - in this still from the 1954 French noir Touchez Pas au Grisbi (Don't Touch the Loot!) - is giving some Phil-Gouldian vibes
