Man City aren't being expelled. They wont go into League 2. They'll get a hefty points deduction plus a hefty fine of at elast $1Billion to pay off the clubs so court cases will be eliminated. No one wants these. They wont win the league but they might not even get relegated.

The Asian country I know well is of course Thailand a huge market for PL - the only league they watch. Even the Thai national league is neglected. The big teams are Liverpool & Man Utd then comes Chelsea & Arsenal Man City was getting popular but at best its 2-3%. The Premier League will survive.

Its unlikely Simon Clarke has bad memories of the 1970s as he was born in 1984. This helps to explain why he forgets a recession made worse by Thatcher driving interest rates up with her uneccessary monetarist policy. The only thing that saved the tories was the Falklands war & North Sea oil.

A deal will be donel between UAE-UK & Premier League. 1. UK govt NEEDS the $35Bn UAE investment to continue - UAE can also increase it as leverage 2. Premier League have no incentive to destroy City 3. UAE have invested so much in Man City they cant let go Deal: 40pt deduuction + $2billion fine

"what about criminal prosecutions or civil actions from those who lost out?" Wont happen. The $2 Billion fine will be used to compensate victims (mostly premier league clubs). $2 Billion will be enough to buy aquiesence and is nothing to the UAE. 40 points sounds alot but might not even relegate.

As Niall says "UK govt is *feeling its way* towards this". Its smart politiccs to talk of options, floating options includes rejoin, rather than making the debate another binary in/out one. Talk of options to reset EU/UK relations quietly drops the status quo - without looking like forcing rejoin.

Tom Harwood seems to be confusing the UK with Bermuda and The Azores. "Europe" is a short train ride away from the UK and 20 odd miles by boat. We share a land border with it. Its also to the North, East, South & West of us.

I found out today how little relatively successful comedians make in the UK even those that appear on panel shows can be on less than a teacher. Was quite surprised. I guess its why so many take big coporate event gigs where they act more as a jovial event-chair than a comedian doing a gig.

As an Arsenal fan I would have to say Klopp is the biggest loser of the Man City scandal. An extra 2 titles seems certain given the 90+ points total including a treble in 21-22, Klopp would now be spoken of the way Guardiola was as the dominant force over the last decade.
