I think we saw a buzzard in our local green space! Was calmly sitting in the ground while a whole lot of crows were freaking out and dive bombing it. Never seen on in London before, and it looked so majestic

Today I found out exactly how violently the old style of CFL bulb can fail. Big pop, burning smell, cue me running around pulling every plug out the wall until my nose lead me to the lampshade. I’m glad we have got past this as a “normal” failure mode!

I need to pick some out-of-copyright romance novels through my LLM book reading project. I did try some Tolstoy but all the triple barrelled Russian names blew its tiny mind. I tried feeding this screenshot of a levels adjustment into a few LLMs and none of them could accurately recreate the equivalent imagemagick command line invocation. I feel like this should be possible, and I'd love to know why. Maybe it differs in presentation between apps?

I’ve been running all my LLM work locally on this M1 Mac, and generally leaving batch work to happen overnight. Inference speed is around 12tok/s. Today I’m trying cloud providers. Together.AI was the fastest at around 140tok/s, but every time I ran my smallest test notebook it cost me 10¢ 😳
