Hamilton was *fantastic* live. I’d only seen it on TV before, and my lovely sister in law surprised me with a ticket. The couple sat next to me had flown over from Philadelphia for the evening just to see ‘Leslie’ (who I worked out was Leslie Odom Jr, the original broadway Aaron Burr). Properly good

The sheer horror of realising that because it’s a ‘Hub by Premier Inn’ the breakfast you paid extra for is actually just a continental breakfast rather than the normal (excellent) Bar + Block cooked breakfast. Never has a tray of croissants and muffins looked so disappointing.

Terrible news. Rio has been updated to a ‘new improved taste’ (read: less sugar, less fruit juice, added sweeteners) and it’s bad. It used to be the most refreshing summer fizzy drink which totally got me through the hardest summer of my life working at the factory where it’s made. They’ve ruined it

Ive been to Cotswold Outdoor in Hedge End today, and both Go Outdoors and Decathlon in Southampton too. In theory all have climbing and mountaineering gear but in practice good luck finding anything. I sometimes think I need to live in a hillier place. The south coast is lovely but lacks mountains.

After a lot of research I finally ordered a 50L Atom Prospector rucksack. (Formerly known as the Mo.) It’s only 910 grams. Made in Keswick, in the Lake District. I’ll be taking it back to its place of birth once I’ve tackled a couple of other upcoming trips with it.
