All-time leading world cup goal scorer changes national allegiance during tournament? That's against the rules, surely?
Screenshot of BBC sport website accidentally claiming that Lionel Messi scored in a game behind played against Austria by Australia instead of his actual nation, Argentina.

Why are councils so unbelievably bad at UX design? Telling people to email one address, while actually sending their email somewhere else is confusing at best, and likely to put some people off from sending an email at all. Maybe that's the intention?
Screen capture of a page on the South Kesteven District Council website, where a link for sending an email to enquire about council tax issues has a "mail to" link that doesn't match the published email address.

It's this kind of hard work on marginal gains that modern football is all about. If Palace come in under the PSR limit by £1 they'll be very proud of this saving.
Story from the BBC sport website about the transfer of Strand Larsen from Wolves to Crystal Palace, with a typo suggesting crystal palace have renegotiated the deal to save just £2. It should say £2million.

Minchin loved sour cream. Gone now, but never forgotten.
A black cat with sour cream all over his face and whiskers because he keeps putting his head into the empty pot to lick out the corners.

When you need to dispose of a man, there's really only one choice...

This is Minchin, left us this autumn after a long life spent mostly sticking his head in things to see if they contained sour cream.
A black furry cat whose face is covered in sour cream, looking up from the pot of sour cream he had been eating.

Oh that's a devious way to get loads of cat pics! Anyway, here's my lovely boy Minchin helping himself to some sour cream.
A black cat eating sour cream by sticking his whole head into the pot. Many facial whiskers are therefore now white, but the cat does not care.

This is, apparently, "an insult to Sunday dinners" and "like being served Sunday lunch with no veg". Our crimes? Leaving the green beans with still some crunch to them, roasting the carrot instead of boiling it, and serving cabbage instead of broccoli. Old people can be so rude and entitled.
A roast dinner: slices of beef, slightly pink, with gravy, stuffing, Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, mashed potatoes, roast carrot with cumin seeds, courgette, cabbage and green beans.

Leicester, stats in yellow, have had a player sent off for a second yellow card. I don't think the BBC's advanced stats are as advanced as they claim...
Statistics from Leicester City women v Liverpool women, in which Leicester are shown as having received zero yellow cards.

I suppose you have to admire the commitment. They're just beans. But they're beans all the time.

Here he is, eating sour cream, which was his absolute favourite thing. And the hedgehog!

It seems only right and proper that the Republicans crying over the "immigrant vote" in the New York mayoral primary should go full Man In The High Castle and pull down the statue welcoming immigrants to the city. They obviously don't want it there any more.
Still from the series The Man In The High Castle, showing the statue of liberty being detonated and pulled down by the Greater Nazi Reich as part of their destruction of historical American culture.

I'm a bit embarrassed for the macro range of beers you've been offered in our "Good Beer" pubs, to be honest. Here's our current offering, by comparison...

This potato is bored of your shit, and isn't going to put up with it any longer.
A potato on a chopping board. The placement of its "eyes" and a curved imperfection in the surface makes it look like a face with a very down-turned mouth.

The construction of this headline is utterly horrific in a world where the bar for "horrific" seems to get raised every day. The US President is looking to set up a protection racket while parroting talking points written by the Kremlin. How did things fall this far so fast?

You know, for anti-anxiety medication these tablets have a rather aggressive tone of urgency.

First meal of 2025, and taking the rare opportunity of being closed ourselves to eat out - at the Dabbling Duck in Great Massingham, Norfolk. Genuinely impressed so far. Home smoked trout with pickled beetroot just lovely. Other starters equally good.
