What made the presence of Nolan's The Odyssey weirdly refreshing is that, despite the bad faith efforts made by the usual players, it *wasn't* subjected to any sort of greater Culture War discourse like (say) The Last Jedi. Which I *very* much hope is a sign people are getting sick of such.

It's something that's come to exhaust me, especially due to the Culture War, because sometimes I just want to hear people talk about Art as...well, Art. The problem is that involves nuance and many people online seem allergic to it and judge everything based on this weird love/hate dichotomy.

When viewership and ad revenue is largely driven by histrionic negativity, you're disincentivized from doing anything more positive. I'm sure there *are* movies they like - perhaps even some masterpieces - but there's no benefit in talking about them as much as tearing down the work of others.

I never liked Larry The Cable Guy, either. As far as the Blue Collar Comedy Tour, Ron White was always my favorite of the bunch. That dude didn't need a gimmick to be funny, plus he represents when politically right-leaning comedians told actual jokes that weren't just "I identify as a helicopter."

There was this sketch where this deadbeat dad (poorly) taking care of his kids for the weekend framed as a kid's show that, with someone else, would've been comic gold - but instead we get this doofus who's supposed to be drunk, yet can't *act* that way, and is *constantly* staring at the audience.

Whatever popularity Theo Von has puzzles me as much as Shane Gillis: putting aside the subjective sentiment of just not finding their material funny, they're just not...good performers. I honestly can't help but think their appeal is parasocial 'cause they seem like guys you'd just hang out with.

This game, and especially its sequel, did not do H.R. Giger's work *any* justice. Thank God that, eventually, we got the criminally underappreciated ludonarrative masterpiece known as...Scorn. I guarantee, in the future, it'll be brought up as one of the best videogames of all time (as it should).
