The IDF literally fired warning shots at 25 diplomats including from Canada, the UK, and Italy and then had the gall to say they “regretted the inconvenience caused.” Is our government really just going to accept that? www.theguardian.com/world/2025/m...
Israeli troops have fired “warning shots” at a group of 25 diplomats who were visiting Jenin, in the Israel-occupied West Bank, on an official mission organised by the Palestinian Authority to observe the humanitarian situation there.

The Israeli military said the visit had been approved, but the delegation “deviated from the approved route” and Israeli soldiers fired warning shots to distance them from the area.

Footage shows a number of diplomats giving media interviews when rapid shots rang out nearby, forcing them to run for cover. The delegation comprised ambassadors and diplomats representing 31 countries, including Italy, Canada, Egypt, Jordan and the UK.

The IDF said it regretted “the inconvenience caused” and that senior officials would contact diplomats to inform them of the results of its internal investigation into the incident.

Israel assassinated an injured journalist by flying a suicide drone into his hospital room. All they have to do is say "he was a member of Hamas", without providing any evidence, and a shocking number of people will say to themselves "well I guess they had to do it".

Why did Israel kill Palestinian journalist Hassan Eslaih?
"This was an assassination, plain and simple," Tamer Qishta, a Gaza-based journalist who worked closely with Eslaih, said to The New Arab.

Daniel makes an interesting point here: AI separates the value of "the thing itself" from the value, in terms of human relationships, that comes from a person having created the thing. It enables the creation of products shorn from the context of human relationships.

One of the more pernicious aspects of the Gaza famine is the way Israel has weaponized the narrative of the local Hamas gov't stealing and hoarding aid. Civilian police in Gaza seem to be securing aid by fighting armed looters, but the IDF targets them to worsen the crisis.

Conservatives framed the debate, NDP got actually policy advances for people through in the last term and were decimated politically, and Liberals won a pretty narrow minority on strategic voting and fear. I don't see how this bodes well for democracy, especially re: Trump.
