worldspace (spatial fragment shader) halftone overlay, but halftones are kept at a consistent density regardless of distance/depth. the halftone texture is applied in hmm "object screen space" (?? not sure what to call this) so it doesn't swim as you move around. #indiedev #godot #gamedev

Not too surprised by this at the end of the day but umm if you do this in #Godot in a spatial fragment shader: if (false) { ALPHA = *anything* }; ... you're still gonna end up in the transparent queue. Hope that saves you ~10+ minutes of hairpulling some day ...

Hoping bsky won't slaughter the fine detail in this image, but I now have a full 3d-to-separated halftone layers stylization running in-game: this is a 3d scene where distinct objects are stylized in screen space w/ different halftone patterns. Full lighting is running, so the torch flickers etc.

Number of times I've heard devs on youtube talk about "making 10 games so i get 1 hit" 😵 ... try this instead: You have a 10% chance (generous estimate) of EVER making one hit. You have a 1% chance of EVER making two hits. You have a 0.1% chance of EVER making three hits. etc.
