niki @nevertoosweets.bsky.social · 20/10/2025Just find it really strange that the new romance bookstore in my city, that opened with the intent to be inclusive and safe space, would have an early screening of a Colleen Hoover movie and the next day post on socials wondering why the event flopped 🤔🤔🤔 110 0

niki @nevertoosweets.bsky.social · 28/07/2025I went to her account and apparently she is also a romance author - I refuse to look them up but how boring her books must be. It’s giving “I’m willing to curate my inventory for my community using my own personal values” and that, my guy, is a slippery slope to censorship, if not already 030 0
niki @nevertoosweets.bsky.social · 27/07/2025Super concerned about the romance bookstore owner who is clearly yucking her customer’s yums. If I saw this as a customer, I’d stop shopping there. 2200 0
niki @nevertoosweets.bsky.social · 24/07/2025As for Soto, she has actively said in the past that she’ll continue to put money in JKR’s pocket through HP and, to my knowledge, has not said anything yet about Trans Rights. And she *absolutely* needs to make a statement. But does she deserve to be made the villain of RC? I don’t think so. 130 0
niki @nevertoosweets.bsky.social · 24/07/2025Mischief Management is now gone. Good, right? Except nobody has said they’re coming back to the con. So you’re all just going to burn it to the ground and walk away instead of rebuilding something better from the ashes? How does that help any cause? 150 0
niki @nevertoosweets.bsky.social · 23/07/2025If you search for RomanceCon on here, there’s a really good thread and article that breaks it all down. 000 0
niki @nevertoosweets.bsky.social · 23/07/2025A large portion of all classic published works are fanfic of other works in some shape or form. They just didn’t have ao3 to post it on. So why are you okay with every single thousandth Romeo & Juliet retelling but godforbid the love interest looks vaguely like Adam Driver? 010 0
niki @nevertoosweets.bsky.social · 23/07/2025Last thing I’ll say on all of this is how vastly disappointed I am in the conversation surrounding all of this. I have no problem with fanfic becoming published books. In my opinion, that’s what fanfic has always been. To hone your writing skills, to be a creative outlet, to create and transform. 110 0
niki @nevertoosweets.bsky.social · 23/07/2025And to clarify - this is mostly directed at the authors. If the authors returned, the fans would stop asking for their money back. So where are the authors? 140 0
niki @nevertoosweets.bsky.social · 23/07/2025I have absolutely no stake in RC. I didn’t even know it was happening until all this drama hit. But after witnessing this? It feels like performative activism if you’re not going to follow through. 150 0
niki @nevertoosweets.bsky.social · 23/07/2025You achieved actual change. Celebrate that. Return to #RomanceCon. You can’t demand change, achieve it, and then turn your back after all that work. You removed the cancer from the event, now come back and heal it. 250 0
niki @nevertoosweets.bsky.social · 23/07/2025Instead, you attacked and bullied and harassed people online. Got an author kicked out of a con. Put an entire event at risk. I’m not saying that’s a bad thing - you got the change you wanted to see, and I’m glad for it. Fuck JKR. So, where are all the authors and fans that dropped out now? 160 0
