Even some people who do "dark comedy" do this. Zero empathy kind of stuff. It's fine for what it is, but you're not breaking any new ground there. Sociopathy might be transgressive, but it's not subversive.

I'm always baffled that there are still people who seem to think that to be funny, something ought to not have any stakes.

Can I start putting "playwright" in my bio yet

THE TRANSSEXUAL BODY IS A HABITAT FOR CREATURES OTHER THAN ITSELF

The stage for this scene should be around two miles wide and should be located in the ocean, 40-60 miles offshore. A transsexual is dressed as a humpback whale and is the size of a humpback whale. Thousands of sexologists fly around dressed as Shearwaters, Storm-petrels, Sabine’s and Heerman’s Gulls, Albatrosses, Fulmars, Jaegers, and Skua. They are the same size as Shearwaters, Storm-petrels, Sabine’s and Heerman’s Gulls, Albatrosses, Fulmars, Jaegers, and Skua. Around 200 dolphins weave through the water, many swimming in near-formation with each other. These dolphins are actually dolphins. There are also psychologists, surgeons, doctors, therapists, psychiatrists, social workers and government employees that are dressed as krill, shrimp, plankton, etc. These are the same size as krill, shrimp, plankton, etc. Electrologists dart around–tiny fish in large schools. The US president is a plankton, and various prime ministers are krill. Ted Cruz is a disintegrating shred of kelp leaf and JK Rowling is a Cyamus boopis.

TRANSSEXUAL: <An impossibly deep, glacially slow, moaning song. It reverberates for thousands of miles. The krill, shrimp, plankton and small fish all begin swimming in random directions as the vibrations disorient them. The song is oddly elegant. It sounds as if it mourns for the pain of the earth and those who live here.>

TRANSSEXUAL: <to herself> Ugh I hate my voice.

END SCENE.

since it’s been a while since i read the book these are more based on vibes than on real textual details re: appearance, but here are the main characters of @traumbooks.bsky.social ‘s Wake Up!

a smiling 30ish trans man with a disastrous nerd outfit, mahjong tiles, and a fistful of $100 bills

a tired, semi-glamorous looking, 40ish trans woman with tattoos, smoking a cigarette

This is bonkers. It’s worth remembering that dozens of outdoor industry firms, including REI who have apologized, endorsed Burgum Because they didn’t see all his other bullshit as a problem as long as they could make money. They helped this happen. recreationroundtable.org/news/outdoor...

black-footed albatross would be a solid pick to have around your neck mariner-style, as they weigh on average around 6-10 lbs with a wingspan of 6-7ft. you wouldn't want to have a royal or wandering albatross around their neck (they can weigh up to 30 lbs and have a wingspan of 12 ft or more)

It made me curious if they were all drawn there for the same reason, or if the whales somehow were a bit of a moving ecosystem of their own that the other creatures were partaking in.

About 2/3rds of the way through the trip we came upon a huge miles-wide area of about 300 pacific white-sided dolphins, at least 3 humpback whales and seabirds galore (including Shearwaters, Albatrosses, Jaegers, Skuas, Sabine's Gulls and more).

Dark gray and white dolphin emerging in the foreground, seabirds abound behind

fin of dolphin is out, another dolphin behind, still a lot of dark-colored seabirds

same as last one, just different positions

Some more of us leaving for the trip

pinkish blue sky with orange on the right, some light clouds, a washed out grey ocean that looks textured but also like someone painted it

light colored textured waves against a light orange and pink sky

wet-looking waves under an orange sky with a yellow sun poking up, clouds reflecting orange and grey on blue

Photo of leaving land during sunrise for deep ocean birding yesterday.

nearly black textured waves, a mountain in the background, sunset clolors leaing up into blueish skies and clouds
