I took Claude Fable and pointed it at a newspaper archive and asked it to create a timeline of wildfire events in the Adirondacks- inside the park, on its edge, and directly outside. The result is an interactive timeline containing information from 12,000 pages of newspapers.

Citi Bank has a policy where if they take over your account through a merger and acquisition they will allow 3rd parties to bill your account even if you have not opened your card so long as Citi deems it a recurring charge. I’m shocked by this and think it is incredibly unethical, maybe illegal.

I’m a classic third wave feminist. Fourth wave feminism surprises me. It’s often feels extremely essentialist even as it emphasizes intersectionality. I feel like 21st century ideologies are growingly incoherent generally. Perhaps it’s the fragmented way we consume information.

Why isn’t the winning message “leaders are corrupt, lazy and stupid”? As an aside, it’s noteable the more we look like an Aristocracy, the more basic liberalism is called socialism. Aristocracies are corrupt, decadent, dishonest, and fundamentally lazy institutions. No kings.

L. Graham was basically a weather vane of the Republican movement. When it was compassionate conservative, he was compassionate. When it was neoconservative, he was neo. When it was MAGA, he was MAGA. He wasn’t elastic. His party was elastic. He did tell the truth about Ted Cruz.

So I have a +300 page annotated bibliography on concussion. And then thousands of more books and papers and documents I’ve read. In other words, I’ve done the work. So what precisely should I NOT use Claude or ChatGPT to do for me on my own work?

I think a major and simple way that people are going to create genuine efficiency gains for themselves with Ai tools is simply learning how to do new things with excel, Google Sheets, Forms etc. it’s really a big deal to be able to learn on the fly how to use these tools more effectively.

Toxic Masculinity brought you Pete Hegseth. Toxic Masculinity brought you an ill-conceived war in Iran. Toxic Masculinity lost you a war in Iran. Toxic Masculinity doesn’t work. It’s a loser in Iranian society. It’s a loser in Russian society. It’s a loser in American society. Feminists win.

I genuinely think our expert in history and sociology should reconsider their immediate hatred of Ai and ask questions like “how would my work change if I could use a super computer”? The Ai would not be the super computer. The Ai would help you use the supercomputer.

True story. I once wrote Carlo Ginzburg about an obscure footnote in one of his essays, and he wrote back and said that the only person who knew was an Italian historian at a university I’d never heard of. So I wrote to her and asked and she did know. And then years later she wrote me and said…

Platner may suck but I don’t need lectures from Right-Wingers on morality and hypocrisy either. Democrats will consistently torch themselves for identity politics in the public imagination while that same public will ignore that MAGA would swift-boat their own mothers if they could gain more power.

You cannot do large scale history projects with Ai without establishing and very likely peer reviewing “mark down” files. There have to be clear context windows for the MCP to operate the way you want. At the very least, the AHA code of conduct should be input as a charter for any project.

It’s absolutely true that shareholders, fiduciaries, and others are going to have to ask whether C-Suite processes and workflows can be automated by Ai. It is also true that the political Left has available to it now a potent weapon to aim at the managerial class should it seek to build it with Ai.

Requests for peer review, promotion, and letters of recommendation are the wildcards of academic life. You think you have it all in control pretty well and then someone says “hey… need this next week, any chance you can do it?”

Five years ago, building the open-source eDelphi platform I’m making might have cost $300k–$450k. AI-assisted development changes software economics, but the bigger shift may be methodological: making rigorous, ethical Delphi studies accessible to many more people.

You probably hate Ai for five stacked reasons: (1) You fear it (2) You experience guilt that you automated a workflow (3) You realize that the work itself is stupid and Ai makes that even clearer (4) You feel exhausted by having to adapt yet again to technology change (5) Other people use it badly.
