Wait. Just found out that the CEO of Gumroad now works at DOGE? And that he saved up loads of money 'cause he fired everyone and replaced them with AI? I'm leaving the platform as soon as I get my money. Jesus christ. tedium.co/2025/04/06/g...

Gumroad’s Interestingly Timed “Open-Source” Play
The creator-economy service Gumroad decided to open-source its platform at a suspiciously convenient time. (And even “open source” might be stretching it.)

it's been said before but the dividing political line for me is between people who hate these fucking fascists and people who don't. whether you're a normie dem or a hard leftist, if hating these fucking people isn't core to your politics, you're useless. if it is--then yeah, we can work together.

On a mission to see a number starting with 5 on the scale this year. I hit the dreaded 80.00 in late 2023, then thankfully reached and maintained the high 60s in fall 2024. My goal is to hit the 50s by the end of this year, and then I can have peace.

Ghostty is out, and I am sad to report that it is just like other terminals, aka, it doesn't treat command line like a normal text editor (and the only terminal that seems to do that is warp). So, someone ELI5 to me what is so special about command lines that they need to behave differently?

One of the major reasons I avoid screenshots generally is because of how cumbersome it is to take them. And I wish I could kinda "tear off" commands from different apps and place it onto a temporary menu bar. ⏎

Webtrotion now supports Umami (umami.is) for page visit tracking. All you need to do is turn umami on, add website-id and specify a self hosted URL if you want to. While I personally do not mind Google's UA, I know a lot of people do, so here's to having options. 🥳
This is a screenshot of an Umami web analytics dashboard showing website performance metrics. Key data includes views, visits, visitors, bounce rate, and visit duration, with visual graphs for trends over time. It also highlights the most visited pages and top referrers, such as Reddit and Google.constants-config file here showing the values you can change to use umami: https://github.com/nerdymomocat-templates/webtrotion-astro-notion-cms-website-blog/blob/main/constants-config.json

Is rectangle pro the only app with stash functionality? I don't care about anything else in it because I really like loop (the circle is great visual feedback for me), but it doesn't have an option to stash. Any app suggestions would be helpful 😃

Does anyone know of vanilla js based library that does magic move for text? I am looking to do something similar to this - but for text diff (would also be great if it was possible to customize delete animations as strikethrough rather than remove them) Maybe @samwho.dev or @maggieappleton.com?

One year of Webtrotion • Nerdy Momo Cat
Almost exactly an year ago, I had published Webtrotion. Webtrotion was mainly meant to be used by me, and it is still very much mainly just used by me, and no one else - and that is okay.

RSS now shows up with content in webtrotion template. It doesn't include the fancy stuff that @jmduke.com does for buttondown (math equations to png etc), but it works to be passable enough, and I am glad for that. Might end up adding a line that says -- "Looks better on original link at {url}"

Slowly getting around to including content in RSS feed in Webtrotion. I really do not like when subscription lists send you link update on Reader/Feedly, I want to skim the whole content, so I wanted Webtrotion to have a similarish experience.
Content shows up in RSS feed, not just the title, link and description.

Daily bunny no.2792 is being too generous
A bunny standing in a vegetable patch passes a carrot over the fence to a young fawn, who munches it happily. In the background at the edge of a forest, two more deer observe the vegetable patch from a distance. A second gardener bunny, older, notices the goings-on and frowns, fearing future incursions by the deer.

Using Bluesky for comments (filtering out pins & sorted by likes) now works on Webtrotion w/ explicit linking, and filtered auto-search-correlate for Bluesky posts. The comments are also styled to match your theme. This post is as a playground to test the auto-search-correlate feature. 💬

MacWhisper can now win a design award 😉 Great piece of software, something I use daily. You really do not need any other dictation software (at least not if you are targeting offline use). Nitpick: The dictation feature needs some work (inserts random periods and removes spaces between words).
