I do hate constantly going back to the old well that is "the cult I grew up in" but that's totally a thing they did. The idea of of a book, movie, comic, song, or any kind of art that didn't have a blatantly obvious "good lesson" was anathema to them. It sucked.

Yeah, I just finished Glen Cook's Black Company books and they're fantastic grimdark stuff. But I switched from that to a somewhat lighter-tone series because I wanted a break from grimdark... and of course, THAT happened. Like, let them (and me) have some happy moments, please.

#writing #WriteSky I won't claim that I'll *never* kill off a major character or their love interest. There may come a time when that's what fits. But I think I've read enough of those stories that it annoys me as a reader, and doesn't interest me as a writer.

I've done content marketing for several years, which involves a LOT of writing basically the same article and/or landing page over and over. I dunno about Megan, here, but it brings my ADHD ass no comfort beyond the monetary compensation. And there's precious little of that going around right now.
