On stage all the time, hiding carefully.

The opening chapter made me love Bluebell, a very powerful wizard, and her friend and companion, Ordan. Chaos ensues as a result of this chapter. It is often hilarious. The magic is well written and fun to read. There are surprises and introductions to a richer lore here and there that would be amazing to see explored in a second book. One of my favorite chapters involved someone calling Bluebell names and I feel like if I said anything else that it would be a spoiler. She asserts herself and doesn't much care to be told to smile and she is an imaginative wizard. Ordan has to worry about containing some of that imagination and sometimes a situation calls for letting it run wild.

A synopsis of my novella: Death has discovered that far, far away from Kingsmount, in the land of Angleshire, someone has targeted the owners of a taquería for the horrendous crime of... wait for it... using the word "taquería" in the name. Being a taquero himself, Death finds this unconscionable.

Oh, and unquiet spirits are haunting a nearby football club, and only some of them are friendly. This, Death has decided, is a job for the Heroes of Kingsmount.

Bluebell the Wizard, and Mistress Sarai the Paladin, will not stand for this. Ordan and Ser Cartwright, their Stalwart Companions, must help them resolve these crises without starting any wars. It's going to be a long couple of weeks.

This novella is very loosely based on real life events, and contains homages to Letterkenny, and Ted Lasso. There are also MANY references to Mexican food. I advise getting yourself a snack before reading.

Bad Google vs. Good Google. Of course the AI got the wrong answer while the old results got me exactly the song I was looking for.

A screenshot of the Google search results for "ah ah bing wa de bim bim bing." The AI overview recommended "BIM BAM BUM" by Rocket Punch, which is not the song I wanted.

The old-fashioned Google search results turned up "Bla Bla Bla" by Gigi D'Agostino in the first result, which IS the song I was thinking of.

A fantastical journey that has fun, whimsy, intrigue, action, adventure, murder and properly, yet hilariously, timed and placed adult language. Easy to follow, has a solid mix of fantasy and reality, medieval and current era.

It has just enough magic usage without being overbearing or drowning out the rest of the story. Looking forward to more of the follow up to Bluebell and Ordan.

It has made me laugh more times and for longer than I was expecting. There is a few twists in it that I would definitely loved to see finished, in time, which in turn would allow the ability to expand on the past that is mentioned throughout.

Overall quite good.

Clothes: Occasionally deigns to wear the requisite pointy hat. Prefers dresses in dark grays and blues, and other muted tones. Said dresses tend to have names like “The Pocketmaster” or “The Serviceable Smock” according to the signs in the shops. They’re thick, but generally breathable, and have many pockets for the benefit of “working women in all industries, and practical men possessed of grand self confidence.”

Has anyone ever tried to contact customer service because they wanted an imaginary being named “Phineas” to regurgitate the exact text of the FAQ page that didn’t solve the problem in the first place? Why does Phineas have character art if he doesn’t even know your company’s phone number?

I'm absolutely shocked this story doesn't have a lot of followers in comments on every chapter. The writing quality is great, there's clearly been a ton of thought put into both individual chapters, and the story as a whole bridging it together into a reasonable sized and complete story arc with both character development and exciting story beats.

Sometimes you type out a whole thing in Discord and think, "No. They didn't ask to hear all this." #Writing #WritingCommunity

I don't even know what to call my writing style. I've set up some jokes chapters in advance. I've written scenes where goddamn it, I made myself tear up. I've written things I thought were goddamned clever...

And I made a side character, a young singer, a star on the rise, who is based on the wide-eyed, endangered-as-a-dodo starlet from every Noir story who's about to get her big break. She also carries a locket everywhere she goes, with a picture of her sweetheart back home, which she shows to everyone.

I named her Fredje, after a tipsy evening when I was thinking about the concept of "fridging." And I decided to have my sidekick character try to keep her alive without any help from the Hero.

The probably-important context. A man's gotta know his limits. And while Alan Ritchson may not be an actual soldier, I won't even pretend that the three weeks of karate classes I took when I was 15 would protect my 5'11'' ass from a guy with biceps the size of my head. HOA is a hell of a drug.

However, other sources cited by TMZ countered that Taylor approached Ritchson in a “really aggressive manner” and allegedly attempted to interfere with his motorbike, causing the actor to fall and sustain minor injuries. Another source told TMZ that Taylor had “initiated and instigated” the encounter.
