One of my favourite episodes to research! Join me this week on a wild goose chase to find the dubious origins of an alleged quote about Sgt Pepper by critic Kenneth Tynan. Thank you to @jonathanknott.bsky.social for the topic suggestion! gimmesometruth.podbean.com #Beatles #TheBeatles

For more than a year I’ve been immersed in 1960s music magazines alongside a non-stop pirate radio soundtrack. I genuinely don’t know when I am anymore (and it’s SO GOOD) Can’t wait to share what I think *really* happened

I recently happened upon these Q Sleevenotes inside my 1987 cd copy of Revolver. A brilliant idea from Q magazine, beautifully written by Paul du Noyer. #Beatles

Rainclouds is a song I've always loved and this deep analysis from Arsalan Mohammad of @albumtoalbum.bsky.social provides new insights and interpretations of the track and its recording session on the darkest of days.

When pieces of a remarkable story are missing what you can rely on for sure is business people involved in an artist's career will exaggerate their influence. If you're not going to be celebrated like an artist is, you point to your inclusion in the picture. It's all very human and fascinating

Fascinating new information about how The Beatles were signed to Capitol, which brought about their dominance of America in the Sixties.

Back In Your Life A stand out track. The chord progression in the background from 4:14 onwards sounded familiar and I've just realised what it reminds me of. It's a slowed down version of the backing of Stevie Wonder's For Once In My Life. #foreigntongues

Covered In You I misheard this lyric as "Covered in you, covered in you, come into bed and screw" which I thought was a bit on the nose! I see the Stones are more sophisticated these days. #foreigntongues

Ringing Hollow When I first heard this I thought it was quite a clichéd country blues song, but once @stevenc63.bsky.social pointed out the clever lyrics it grew on me and I really appreciate it now. One of my favourite tracks. #foreigntongues

I've had many happy hours listening to @ericidle.bsky.social 's funny, poignant, entertaining memoir "Idle in Provence". It's comforting escapism in the beautiful French countryside but not without life's ups and downs. Listening to Eric reading the text is intimate and warm. Don't miss it!

An interesting episode that has made me want to revisit Alice! And while we're in the realms of subjectivity, what I find interesting about the notion of a glass onion is that it's an onion that wouldn't make you cry. Which then brings me to the phrase "it would bring a tear to a glass eye" Haha!

I too remember it being on Top of the Pops week after week. Nice episode .. I completely agree with @myfavebeatles.bsky.social about how the uplift of the bagpipes elevates it all. And that Linda’s backing vocals make the song. She really helped to create the unique sound of Wings. #MullOfKintyre

I can remember the phenomenal success of Mull of Kintyre in late 1977. The biggest-selling single of the Sixties and Seventies. Bigger than the Beatles! Eoghan and Tim take a look at this magnificent song and why it became THE monster hit of the era.

Subject: RE: New Beatle Project Script recap
Hi Guys Thanks for all the work on the early outline. Title wise, YES-TIE-DAY? Bit shit? KNOT GUILTY?? To recap, ‘60s Liverpool, young George Harrison (TIMOTHEE CHALOMET???) despairs of his life as an apprentice rock guitarist. Pursues his dream of fashion design. The world is hit by a blackout, and George is hit by a bus. He wakes to find all the ties have disappeared and NO ONE REMEMBERS THEM. Taking advantage of his knowledge, George “invents” the tie, and his hailed as a fashion genius across the globe. The ties get better and better, increasingly experimental but success proves hollow as he realises the thing that really matters to him is his girlfriend Patti. Older, wiser, George opts for the simple life of a rock guitarist and film mogul. Big question: Do you think we can get the rights to the ties?
