Agreed. A woman oughtn't to adopt her husband's* name automatically, though with consideration and free will it is OK. Men should also consider willingly changing their name to their wife's. Or a double-barrelled name, or no change for either. *long-term partner/significant other etc

5-10-24 State College PA We had peace through strength. You don’t have to send your kids out to war, have your kid blown up for a country that you’ve never heard of and that doesn’t want anything to do with you anyway. But I will not send you to fight and die in a foolish, never-ending foreign war"

I hear (on @bbc5live.bsky.social) talk of Manchester City lying to auditors and misrepresenting company accounts, which sounds like a law-of-the-land thing, not just a matter for the Premier League. #BBCPM

Wowza, that's very complicated! Or seems to be. I should find myself a YouTube video on the American electoral system! I thought the 'College vote', or whatever it is called was crazy enough! 2 representatives per state, generally, regardless of size of the population?! Barking mad. (I'm prob wrong)

He is British and thinks the major concerns which political parties are not tackling are illegal immigration and the benefits problem, which he is contributing to by not paying a fair amount of taxes. If he and his ilk paid as much as the rest of us we could afford benefits, healthcare, education &c

Ireland offers many advantages, not least being within the EU, that the UK can't match. They have a reputation for encouraging those companies, lots of tech bros are buying up land and posh houses, and if they don't have the skills needed there are thousands of Brits more than happy to move.

For those older than 15, what does "tapped" mean in this context? From the BBC:- "Kit Harington has been tapped to join the highly anticipated Harry Potter TV series as the wizarding world's celebrity-turned-Hogwarts instructor Gilderoy Lockhart, HBO confirmed to the BBC" I genuinely don't know

I've been trying to find a source that backs up the petition - even The Sun says 2034/44, to be decided. I think the petition writers are sh1t stirring! A Green Paper (this stage) is a discussion stage, review public feedback -> White Paper firmer policy proposals -> Inquiry -> response -> Act maybe

I don't think that is true - not yet, anyway. "Ian Murray, Minister for Creative Industries, Media and Arts, said: "Parliament has secured the future of freeview, also known as digital terrestrial television (DTT), until at least 2034 and no decision has been made about what happens beyond this"

Just had a thought. Farage registered a £9,253 benefit from George Cottrell funding a Belgium trip in April 2024 - before the GE. This is the time that Farage and his allies say he was "not in politics." He declared that, but didn't declare the £5m Harborne gift. Something doesn't add up there...
