I think Odeon overestimated the commercial appeal of DIGGER.

Can’t go into too much detail but cor blimey, Clio Barnard’s new film is pretty solid. Like an shortform Our Friends In The North x This Life for the millennial generation.

And in hindsight, Michael Apted’s line of questioning appears rude, if not clinically cruel, as each instalment rolls by. Ruthlessly harsh and cutting to the point of being sanctimonious. #70Up

Got quite emotional this evening at the first part of Asif Kapadia’s 70 Up. Out of all of them, I do admire Tony’s determination to do what he set out to do and his contentment with what he has achieved. Neil’s hopeful flashbacks in his extinct Liverpudlian/Lancashire accent always has me in bits.

If you can hold your mettle, wait until next Friday (4th) for LEVITICUS, an imperfect Aussie horror, valiantly normalising teenage same-sex relationships against evangelical religion and smart sharp shocks. Somewhere between the adolescent brio of TALK TO ME and the ghost ‘STD’s of IT FOLLOWS. 👍🏽

End of August is that time of the year where studios shove out naff horrors and tepid acquisitions they have no idea what to do with. Along with Pedro Almodovar’s BITTER CHRISTMAS, this weekend sees the release of THE DEATH OF ROBIN HOOD - w/ Hugh Jackman & Jodie Comer. My thoughts: boxd.it/fAbGq7

Quite the random selection of songs in that GTA VI extended look, the ones I picked up on are; Cliff Richard - Devil Woman Def Leppard - Love Bites Captain & Tennille - But I Think It's A Dream Prefab Sprout - Cars and Girls Depeche Mode - People Are People The Bellamy Brothers - Let Your Love Flow

Quite impressed by the GTA VI Netflix preview. They’ve nailed the inside of buildings to be robustly rich with detail. I also like that the following songs are on the OST: Cliff Richard - Devil Woman Prefab Sprout - Cars & Girls Depeche Mode - People Are People Phil Collins - Against All Odds

If IMAX was consistent and equitable format, there’d be more of them. Reminder: the UK has only ONE cinema that can screen 70mm IMAX from film in its proper aspect ratio. There are only 40 worldwide. When you see it elsewhere, you aren’t getting the literal full picture. It’s such a gimmick.
