I knew I wanted to review this book since before it came out, but towards the end of my first read, I realized it’d need to be something more long-form. Huge thank you to the Negation editors for pulling this piece out of me. Solidarity with children forever.

"Without this theoretical grounding [of class], it is impossible to determine whether purported Political novelties are in fact the product of strong topological interventions that subvert and recompose the structure (i.e. whether they are in fact novelties)."

A quote from the article "Rupture, Residual, and the Party Form" by A.M. The quote reads: "Contrary to the assertion that we should pursue a post-classist mode of politics, class must be vigorously re-centred in our political interventions even if our vision of class Politics must anticipate the emergence of post-classist formations and take into consideration the ways in which class itself is overdetermined by (settler-)colonialism, patriarchy, racism, etc."

A.M. responds to @cammunismm.bsky.social's “Rupture Theory” by asserting the continuing relevance of the party-form, the need for social analysis as a guide for political intervention, and an analysis of the dialectical relationship between rupture and continuity www.negationmag.com/articles/rup...

In Theses on Fascism, Cam W explores how fascism is a nihilistic politics where, since the world is already doomed, joy is derived from spiting enemies: www.negationmag.com/articles/the...

Text: Politics as ressentiment entices Trump supporters. If you resign yourself to the reality that the political system is broken and that the world is burning, why not vote for the guy that trolls people you hate? Why not own the libs and drink liberal tearS? Clark says that Trump supporters are "as cynical as he is. Or rather, they are serious about spectacle. About the chanting, the hats, the latest insult. They know that's what politics now is." Some Trump supporters were motivated mainly by a desire to use slurs, which "wokeness" has taken away from them. Trump supporters believe that if the world is going to burn, they might as well have fun in the process. Fascism's embrace of nihilism is directly tied to its embrace of bad faith, as Sartre observed almost a century ago. You can't reason with fascists because they don't care about making sense. It's all a game.
