This Pacific Baza appeared totally oblivious to us as it hunted its breakfast. It's the first time I've seen one with a frog and definitely one of the highlights of today's 55 species early morning walk. #birds #wildoz #brisbane
A Pacific Baza eating a small green tree frog. It took it a while to get the frog down, but as soon as it did it was off hunting again, tracking movements with its bright yellow eyes.

This will never stop blowing my mind. A 12-year sequence of real telescope images of a star 133 lightyears away. And around it, four planets slowly orbiting. Four real exoplanets, each more massive than Jupiter, imaged as they move around their host star.

Qingshan Lake Water Forest in Lin'an District, Hangzhou is a viral attraction sometimes called "Matcha Lake" for the emerald green duckweed (subfamily Lemnoideae). These black swans (Cygnus atratus) & their cygnets are enjoying a nutritious buffet of aquatic plants. Let's learn about duckweed.

Added roller wheels to the bottom so it slides under my laser machine work bench. I'm using it to hold tall bottles of glue and other things. This turned out amazing. This is my third drawer restoration like this and each one is unique little piece of functional art. #Curbfinds #Restoration 4/end

After fully sanding I stained it with some minwax red oak 215 stain, which is my go to dark stain. No prestain conditioner to make sure the grain popped. Finished with minwax gloss brush on poly. Holy... that fire grain rocks! Whoa! #Curbfind #Restoration 3/n

A little repurposed restoration 🧵 (This is So Cool!) My neighborhood was developed in the 40s. So whenever I see curb debris from a kitchen renovation I always look for drawers. They are typically made from old growth wood which usually has lots of great grain and figure. #Curbfind #Restoration

The Facial Expressions of Tethys by artist Julius von Bismarck. A suspended high-sea buoy that moves in real time. Sensors on a twin buoy out in the Atlantic Ocean send live satellite data to motors inside the museum. This makes the indoor buoy copy the exact, real-time movements of the ocean waves.

Did you know the wasabi in most sushi restaurants isn't wasabi? Or that a chemical synergy between dried seaweed and raw fish enhances sushi's savoury flavours? Learn more about sushi science with this infographic, as requested by my sushi-mad seven-year-old 🍣 wp.me/s4aPLT-sushi #ChemSky 🧪
This infographic titled "Sushi chemistry: nori, wasabi and sticky rice" explores the science behind sushi. It features three main panels with illustrations, chemical structures, and explanations. The left section explains how amylopectin in rice creates stickiness and how acetic acid from vinegar aids gelatinisation. The middle panel covers umami flavours from glutamate, inosinate, and guanylate found in nori and raw fish, displaying their molecular structures. The right panel discusses allyl isothiocyanate in wasabi and horseradish, along with gingerol and shogaol compounds in pickled ginger (gari). Photos of six different sushi rolls line the bottom.

NASA picture of the day today is a real 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿beauty! This is a composite image of the ~5000yo Callanish Stones on the Isle of Lewis. The imposing Callanish Stones stand talk with their shadows spanning out across the glass. It's a super clear sky, but looks cold. Above the central stone is a strange figure-of-8 shape of dots. This is the location of the Sun, at noon, on various different days across the year.

Weight is important when you have to pull it on the bike. The first caster I bought was just a regular 6" swivel caster. I had to send it back because I failed to read the fine specification print. The beast weighed in at almost 6lbs. 😳 🤣

Don’t mind me. Just nailed the tolerences on the pressure fit of two bearings on the first 3D print. 😁 This will hold the stem of the stem caster I’m using to make my pet bike trailer find into a cargo bike trailer with a 2-in-1 option. Will convert to a push cart. PETG 100% infill. #3Dprinting

I find it kind of weird when I can't find something already designed that see like it really should already exist. But I realize that, more often then not, it's because I'm wanting something that is more kind of niche then I assumed. 🤪
