Brown University researchers found that as of the summer of 2026, 1,878 schools are now within a mile of an existing data center, or one that is currently under construction. California has 602 such schools, or roughly 30% of the national total. Florida has 49, and Virginia has 101.

A court decision requiring stricter limits & supervision on Meta teen accounts is a step in the right direction, but it’s not enough. NEA has long pushed for action to address social media addiction. Lawmakers need to do their part & put children’s safety & mental health ahead of corporate profits.

The year that her elementary school integrated, second-grader Princess Moss had Miss Lucy T. Lewis as her teacher. Miss Lewis made students of any color feel welcome—and made Princess want to be a teacher. Decades later, after 21 years in the classroom, Princess Moss is now NEA President Moss.
