Throughout LGBTQ+ history, Black LGBTQ+ folks have been trailblazers, icons, pathmakers and groundbreakers. October is LGBTQ+ History Month, and we honor those whose work, art, voices, stories, and contributions have fueled the fight for Black LGBTQ+ liberation and visibility.

Black superheroes embody the strength and power in all of us. And when people try to dismiss that representation as “woke,” it’s worth remembering: Black identity and the realities of race have been part of these characters’ stories from the beginning. Who is your favorite Superhero?

“They will come for you.” When corporations and powerful institutions organize to punish people for speaking truth to power, it sends a message: Stay quiet, or you could be next. That’s why we organize. Not just when it comes for us, but before.

“Our son’s life does not matter to those who hold positions that are supposed to serve and protect the public.” Those are the words of Nolan Wells’ mother. We demand justice for Nolan Wells and all the other Black youth whose deaths our justice system has failed.

On Dolly Parton Day, we remember a woman who didn’t just say Black lives mattered. She showed it. From supporting Black artists and BLM to investing royalties in Black Nashville and putting millions of free books in kids’ hands, Dolly put compassion into action.

Hey, @bigdoordash.bsky.social. We fixed it. A lukewarm admission and a forced settlement barely begin to make things right for all the app-based workers you’ve exploited. So, when can we expect a settlement for all dashers who haven’t received a fair wage?

Converse. Target. Burberry. Gucci. Prada. Different companies. Same story: racist ads and products, public backlash, then an apology. How does this keep happening? When Black voices aren’t in the room, companies miss what should’ve been obvious.

AI is opening Pandora’s box. Black communities already face discrimination in hiring, housing, healthcare, policing, and access to opportunity. AI can automate those same biases and spread them faster, farther, with less accountability. We need stronger rules and real oversight.

You’ve worked hard to build something. Make sure it ends up in the right hands. 🤲🏾 Through our partnership with FreeWill, you can create or update your will online for free in about 20 minutes. Check it out here colorofchange.mygiftlegacy.org Your legacy is in your hands.
NEARLY 7 IN 10 PEOPLE DON’T HAVE A WILL.

Without one, the state can decide:
Who raises your kids.
Who inherits your home.
Who gets a say in what you leave behind.FOR BLACK FAMILIES, THE COST CAN LAST GENERATIONS.

Wealth we build doesn’t always reach our children.

But a will can help protect what you built.
MAKING A WILL DOESN’T HAVE TO BE COMPLICATED.

Through our partnership with FreeWill, you can create or update your will online for free in about 20 minutes. You can:
Name guardians for your children
Decide where your property goes
Choose who receives your savings, 401(k), IRA, or life insurance
WHAT IF YOUR LEGACY COULD HELP BUILD A MORE JUST FUTURE?

We’re launching the Legacy Of Change Society.
Members can include a gift to Color Of Change in their will and help 20+ years of building Black political power continue for generations to come.

It costs nothing today. We encourage you to write a will either way.

We’d be honored to be part of your legacy.

Bribery? Is that where we are? Trump promised to give Americans $5k if the GOP wins the upcoming midterm elections. This is just another one of his empty promises while he fails to make groceries affordable, lower gas prices, and improve our healthcare. It’s a desperate attempt to get votes.

Target is “looking closely at how it happened.” Start by looking at what you cut. No DEI. A blackface-evoking costume modeled by a Black child passed through every step of approval. You can’t sideline Black employees, insult Black communities, and expect Black dollars at checkout.

What if the housing crisis isn’t just about housing? For Black families, rising costs and unequal access to wealth are widening the homeownership gap and making it harder to build generational wealth. We need a renters’ tax credit, more affordable housing, and a fairer tax code.
