Nah we're in the 1880s - the 20s were a period of intense ideological mass politics. We lack the large scale unions & left parties of that era, or the highly organised & ideological fascist movements. It's more a vague nationalism & chauvinism, and reactionary backlash we saw during the guilded age.

Insurance is a sector that should by law be not for profit (or ideally publicly owned & run). Taking money out of the pot is imo incompatible with the model, immoral and should be considered a form of stealing.

Freikorps in Germany to crush the 1919 communist uprisings were the blueprint - but yeah a lot of the fascist movements were made up of unemployed traumatised veterans. The Italian fascists got their start as hired thugs for business owners who wanted them to beat up striking workers.

The 20s saw highly organised & powerful trade union movements, large properly ideological leftwing parties & large numbers of veterans organised into rightwing paramilitaries. The late 19th cent was largely liberals vs conservatives & nationalists w/ politics being an elite venture wrt social makeup

Gilded age levels of inequality & robber barons first of all Also the 20s & 30s were far more politically organised & ideological decades. We don't have large post-revolutionary ideological states like the USSR or fascist Italy - just a load of vague nationalism/chauvinism & some strongman politics.

With regards to the 3k civs killed in Donbas - there is little record of responsibility but there was an issue of irresponsible bombing by Ukrainians & atrocious human rights record of Russian proxies

And civil war is a funny way of describing Russia sending special forces in to annex or set up puppet governments after a popular uprising against a puppet of theirs. The fact is they led a large-scale invasion into Ukraine to reinstall a client state or straight up annex it - they openly stated so.
