Half way through the last night of seven night shifts in a row and I'm looking forward to seeing daylight again. I'm also looking forward to Queen by Candlelight Saturday evening at Brecon Cathedral.

I don't know what it is but I seem to have an irrational dislike of a particular genre actor. I can't explain why I dislike him other than he keeps playing villains. I've heard him on a recent episode of Dropping Names (the Jonathan Frakes and Brent Spiner podcast) and he seems cool! ...

I'm guessing it's a big thing but as a Brit I've not heard of the BC Hall of Fame before. However... congrats to our favourite franchise!

So I went to start watching season 23 of NCIS last night and couldn't find it anywhere to watch on UK streaming services. Not Disney+, not Paramount+, not NowTV. Is there nowhere showing it ? @nottinghillnerd.bsky.social ??

Prepping the next episode recording of the podcast with an amazing guest (which will be out in November) and I find this comic strip in the pages of Crash issue 35. Wait... do you see what I see? Is that THE Charlie Brooker? I know he worked for OINK! Is this an early appearance?

I can't believe it has taken me two weeks to realise that Hadjar was not the only driver to score points on that Friday. Oscar Piastri, Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad also picked up points that day too.

Today I learned ... The person driving the truck and chasing down Dennis Weaver in the movie 'Duel'... is the same person driving the truck that killed Edith Keeler in TOS's The City on the Edge of Forever. Carey Loftin

I made a rookie mistake with this post. Alonso has actually raced against 120 drivers in his F1 career so far. Not just the drivers I'm listing below, but also the 21 drivers who were STILL in grid before his 2001 rookie season. Can anyone else claim to have raced against so many other people?

000

Geoff Owen, 8-Bit Back Issues @ncc17formula1.bsky.social · 14/09/2026

Fernando Alonso has been in Formula 1 since 2001. Since that time, he has raced against 99 other drivers, including the 22 other drivers racing this year. Since he joined F1, 81 drivers have had their entire F1 career, which is impressive! This is a list of those drivers and their achievements.

Just how much advertising on Youtube is there these days? I had the same awful (and unblockable) YouTube Premium / AI ad pop up literally every 70-90 seconds in the last 20 minutes of the EXCELLENT @trekculture.bsky.social Ups and Downs of 60 Years of Star Trek video. It was very distracting.

Doing my first rewatch of Star Trek: Discovery and I can't believe I didn't see all the hints about Ash Tyler just in the first few episodes. L'Rell: Did you really think you could leave me? After all we've been through. Lorca: - Well, I figure I've seen you fly, sh**t, fight like a Klingon.

Ahead of Avengers: Doomsday we've been rewatching the MCU and X-Men movies, and it's been fun playing 'Spot Stan Lee'. Last night we watched X2 which I don't think I've seen since it first came out. It's a bit meh, but ... where was Stan Lee? Was he not in this one?

You know what they say - every day you learn something new. I just found out that that the guy who provided voices for, among others, a Talosian, Transporter Chief Pitcairn and Starbase 6 Commander was also the 'Your Mission, Jim, should you choose to accept it' voice on Mission: Impossible!

The urge to walk into a room and go 'Only Me' is getting stronger and stronger every day. And every day I know it's less and less likely that people will get the joke. To be honest, it's already very unlikely someone would get it now. Probably because... You don't wanna do it like that!
