Molecular biology and plant physiology in sorghum is still on the rise, however there’s more to come as sorghum GST research from Nanna Weise & @nbjarnholt.bsky.social shows while we are exploring metabolic network belowground for more resilience in sustainable agroecological settings

After plant sciences in Germany, we went to the 2026 Global Sorghum Conference @texastech.bsky.social in Lubbock - there’s been interesting advances in genomics with emerging trades for sorghum resilience and health properties

A few years ago, through luck and vibes, I managed to produce this blue colored bean variety. This was an early step in trying to answer the question, [paraphrased] "Why isn't blue as common as red in beans, even though they're both anthocyanins and the plant has the genes for both?"

A bit belated, but no less happy: Two papers are out 🥳 with results from #PlantMSI, my emerging facility for plant Mass Spectrometry Imaging! From two awesome collabs came one on alkaloid biosynthesis in lupins (DOI: 10.1111/nph.20384) w Fernando Geu-Flores in NewPhyt & now this in Science 👇🤩

One more day now until the @plantcellatlas.bsky.social virtual Spatial Metabolomics Workshop. We are spreading out over multiple time zones, but it will still be hard to be awake for all of the great talks - but fret not, if you sign up you can watch the recorded talks later in your own time!

I participated in a faculty panel a few weeks ago in which senior (ahem) faculty gave advice on careers in academia by pretending luck had very little to do with our success. One piece of advice riled me up, in which it was argued that a reason for their success was their ability to say no. 1/
