And, in order to speed up approvals for these fossil fuel projects, the legislation also guts the #EndangeredSpeciesAct by surrendering one of the Act's strongest safeguards — the requirement for federal review of project impacts. This would allow for state-run rubberstamping of dangerous projects.

Per @politico.com, DOT's own docs predict this will cost consumers MORE not less (+more for bigger cars & trucks), with no guarantee purported purchase price savings will pass to buyers. The feds also claim its impact to increase US corporate profits is a win worth higher consumer fuel costs.

ICYMI: Another humpback whale was recently found entangled in fishing gear off the West Coast. Thankfully, rescuers were able to free the whale, which then swam free. This incident follows another entanglement of a humpback calf in the area in August. These entanglements are preventable.

New research dates the Las Playas Intaglio, previously believed to be about 1,000 years old, to at least 6,500 years ago. The sacred Indigenous geoglyph was partially destroyed in April by federal contractors working on the Trump’s second border wall in the Cabeza Prieta National Wildlife Refuge.
