I had a fun time working on this wood duck drake's head. There are so many different colours blended into the feathers and I wasn't sure they were all going to work together for a while there, but I'm happy with the final result. #Art #Birds #ArtAdventCalendar

My almost 6mo is now mostly sleeping 12hrs a night. He's just had some milk though (at 4qm) because of his teefs giving him jip, bless him. He's so good at putting himself to sleep but I like to keep an eye on him on the monitor. 👀

So the farm we're staying at out here in New England had to have their 20yo horse out to sleep today. If that wasn't sad enough the other horse is wandering about the body and is lying down outside near it (it's 1:22am) and it's absolutely heartbreaking to see 😭

My post partum body is not recognisable as me. I have split abs (which I'm having physio to fix) that cause a big bully at the top of my belly. This makes clothes difficult. As someone who enjoys expressing myself through clothes this has been really upsetting. I have a wedding in a few weeks..

When I see fake or gel nails I can't help thinking of them being super dirty underneath without the wearer realising. It takes special effort to keep long nails clean underneath and it would be difficult to do without being able to see through the nail. They're so popular at the moment though 😬

We have bought our baby ONE brand new outfit, every other piece of his clothing is second hand. Apparently there's enough clothing in the world for the next 6 generations, so it's nice to be part of circular fashion. It's also much nicer on the pennies.

a close look at the front of an orange jewelweed flower. the flower hangs from a thin green stem attached to the top; one of the two green, lateral sepals is partially visible on the right. the flower's third sepal blurs as it extends to the rear: it is an orange cone with a curly nectar spur at the far back. there are five petals; the rounded top petal is bright orange speckled with dark orange spots. to each side there are a pair of lateral petals, fused so as to appear as a single convoluted petal with two inequal lobes. the smaller lateral petals are mostly bright orange, with a few dark spots. the lower, larger lateral petals are so heavily spotted that they are predominantly dark orange. altogether, the assemblage of the petals and large sepals can seem like a single, conical organ with a broad cavity within. it also seems the stem penetrates the top of the flower, due to a green extension into the cavity within. however, this is in fact the stamens, fused into a cap which later falls off to expose the pistil within.
