It’s important to go back to 2024. Elon was being investigated by DOJ on multiple fronts. He and Thiel were both put in strange positions by the intelligence community over some (still unexplained) Russian connections. Trump has been pulling that string when convenient.

This is likely to be a misleading graph unless it was very carefully done. There are already many medium to large data centers in highly blue metro areas. This is going to swamp the new and more controversial mega data centers with 50 neighbors within 2km.

The assumed social and political reactions are far riskier than the physics. Any deterrence theory less obvious than tic tac toe is suspect today. The people who understand the rules are still writing strategy papers, but they are no longer playing or refereeing the game.

I am in Cap Haitien interviewing people deported from the United States. I have been doing this kind of work for almost a decade and it literally does not get more dire than this. People have lost everything they built in the U.S. and are terrified and have no place to go or way to live.
