I feel pretty strongly that someone who is reading this right now would be GREAT for this (pretty well paid) contract role with the Bryant Neighborhood Organization.

BNO is seeking a 40 hour a week organizer to reach out to the neighborhood. This is a contract position, from now through the end of the year, with the possibility of extending it much longer. We need someone with some experience in on-the-ground organizing and event planning, as well as someone who can be highly independent, resourceful, inventive and motivated. Experience with web design, social media, and video production a plus.
BNO currently has no office and no paid stuff, and is board and resident run. The organizer will report directly to the board. The job is based within the small neighborhood of Bryant in South Mpls, so you will be spending much of your time connecting with people in Bryant itself. But during the part of the day when you will doing work on the phone/computer, you can work from anywhere. Which days you work can be negotiated, but it will require at least some evenings and weekend days.
You will be doing tasks from going down the street knocking on doors to helping designing programs. You will plan a few small events, survey the neighborhood, and reach out directly to the residents, activists, employees, artists and organizations of the neighborhood, including those in George Floyd Square itself, as Bryant anchors one corner of the Square.

Pen and watercolor

Cowboys again. This time one of our boys has lost his boots. Standing in a field of long grass the cowboy points towards the ground and shouts back to his colleague, “Lil bone people got muh boots.” This makes no sense to the other cowboy who sits atop his horse away from the action. He responds, “Lil wut?” Sure enough in the foreground we see a squad of little bone people scampering through the grass with the stolen cowboy boots. They’re thrilled. How the bone people got the boots off the cowboy is unclear.

Artist’s note: I tend to draw drawings from the same perspective (straight on) most of the time. This idea came about when I was goofin around trying to draw a character from a lower angle. I like that the story unfolds with the foreground, mid-ground, and background all working together. There’s a draft of this one included in the Spooky Pants book. Coming out next week!
