Whereas we see that the locomotive has suffered catastrophic, irretrievable failure. There is nothing to govern. There is no purgatorial fire upon which to shovel more coal. We see them pulling levers amongst the wreckage and thing: what the fuck are you doing? It's blown up! It's done!

I didn't get any good pictures of the eclipse through my hacked together pinhole thing, but I did get a picture of this sundog (at least I think that's what it is) just after the maximum occlusion.

It's cool seeing the moon/sun thing but I think watching the land respond to the eclipse is more interesting. The birds fell silent and the sheep stopped bleating.

I stood outside for some time watching newly fledged swallows dance and carve the air. The sky looked so beautiful.

I might actually download a stock ticker app for the first time in my life, just to keep an eye on this car crash.

The "corporate wants you to find the differences between this picture and this picture" meme, taken form The Office. Ooh my new #tarot deck has arrived: Earth Magick by Daniel Martin Diaz. It's really stunning and I can already feel that it complements my favourite deck (Pagan Otherworlds) even though the style is so similar.

That's really good, and boy do we need it. I'm going to share a favourite slide of mine (from a presentation about acceptance testing). I find it hilarious that I had to say this, but it was also really interesting from a behavioural point of view that it was needed.

Selfie of me. I have pale skin and bright red hair that is short on the side and tumbling over my face from the top. I have blue eyes and strong features, and a suggestion of a simple on the right side of my face. My left eyebrow has a bar piercing, and I have a vertical labret in the middle of my lower lip, both dark. I also have a bridge piercing that is barely visible under my hair. I am wearing and off the shoulder red top that can just be seen at the bottom left and right of the photo, and I have a silver chain with a circular pendant on my neck. Dog-features investigates the magic disappearing cat bush. She found a cat snoozing behind it recently. The cat bolted, unseen, while she repositioned to the other side of the bush. Since then she checks the empty bush intently every time she goes out to the garden.

Betrayal? Starmer started it.

Keir Starmer's ten pledges that he made during his successful leadership campaign (summarised):

"My promise to you is that I will maintain our radical values and work to get Labour in to power - so that we can advance the interests of the people our Party was created to serve.

Based on the moral case for socialism, here is where I stand.

1. Economic justice

Increase income tax for top earners, reverse Tory tax cuts, clamp down on tax avoidance.

2. Social justice

Abolish Universal Credit and end sanctions. Set a national goal for wellbeing to make health as important as GDP; invest in services. Stand up for universal services and defend our NHS. Support the abolition of tuition fees.

3. Climate justice

Put the Green New Deal at the heart of everything we do. A Clean Air Act to tackle pollution locally. Demand international action on climate rights.

4. Promote peace and human rights

No more illegal wars. Introduce a Prevention of Military Intervention Act. Review all UK arms sales.

5. Common ownership

Support common ownership of rail, mail, energy and water; end outsourcing our NHS, local government and justice system.

6. Defend migrants' rights

We are the party of the Equal Pay Act, Sure Start, BAME representation and the abolition of Section 28 - we must build on that for a new decade.

10. Effective opposition to the Tories

Unite our party, promote pluralism and improve our culture. Robust action to eradicate antisemitism. Maintain our link with the unions."

I want to commend husb for this rose plant he is growing. It has really taken off this year and our wee garden smells of lemons. (I don't know why the roses smell of lemons, nor do I know why the flowers have double petals. I just know that they are pretty and smell nice.)

CW picture of an x-ray of a broken ankle (fibula) I'm back from the hospital, relieved that the healing process is going pretty well. Just needs more rest and painkillers as necessary. 👍

An x-ray of my left ankle starting from the middle of the shin down to the heel, the ankle joint and heel bone. The tibia and fibula take up most of the picture. The fibula has a jagged, diagonal break going down from the outside to inside, a few inches up from the heel joint.

I'm using my silly keyboard while I am in the office for the first time in ages, and I cannot remember any of the key mapping.

A photo of a custom keyboard that has 28 keys arranged on a circuit board in a butterfly pattern. On each side there is a cluster of 12 keys for fingers and two thumb keys. There is a tiny microprocessor (seeed xiao rp2040) in the middle that is connected to a usb-c cable.

The key caps are unmarked but the home row on each side has three pink keys, the two thumb keys are grey and yellow, and the top rightmost key is grey. The other 18 keys are white.

Why is my boiler app telling me things like this?

Oldie but a goodie.

Selfie. I have pale, white skin, a round face with string features, dimples on my chin and right cheek, thinned eyebrows and I am slightly smirking. I have low coverage makeup on, and mascara. My hair is buzzed at the sides and flopping over to the right, dyed red, on top. I have several facial piercings: left eyebrow, septum, monro, and vertical labret in the centre of my lower lip, all black metal. I'm wearing an olive coloured t-shirt and I have a choker that has a green heart pendant on it.

This is what the last two years and more of Labour triangulation towards the Far Right has been about: those two, tiny lines coming from the Tory and Reform vote. This is Starmerism. Reevesism. Streetingism. Cooperism. Mahmoodism. Burnhamism. This is what the Labour membership campaigns for.

Zoomed in part of the graph of voting patterns that Adam Bienkov posted above showing the Labour portion on the right side, which represents the 2026 local election vote. Three thin lines are merging into Labour from below (which is nominally from the right wing) the thickest of these lines is coming from the Lib Dems. The two other lines that are so thin they are almost invisible, come from the Tories and Reform. I have drawn a blue box around these two thinnest lines, along with a large blue arrow pointing at the blue box.
