Flamingos are not pink. They are born with grey feathers, which gradually turn pink in the wild because of a dye called canthaxanthin obtained from their diet of brine shrimp and blue-green algae. This is a baby flamingo. Original post

'In the Garden.' (1884) A close friend and follower of Georges Seurat and a founding member of the Neo-Impressionist movement, Charles Angrand's technical ability in this work is superb. Paul Signac praised Angrand's paintings as 'poems of light.'

I have done small 'splash backs' in the past. Measure height and width then see if your local hardware store have basic white tiles, some glue, and grout. You sew so think of these as quilt blocks.

Every couple of decades I clean out my sewing box. The wooden spools and prices were good back then. #Crafting #Sewing #QuiltSky
This is a photo of nine old wooden spools of cotton thread, some of which I inherited from my mother. Colors include pumpkin orange, a light lime green, a bright golden yellow. The prices ranged from 15 cents to 19 cents. All are smaller in size from contemporary thread. BoilFast, Talon, and Coats & Clark are the brand names. The color shades are clearly numbered. (Talon brand made zippers too; their thread shade matched the zippers.) The spools are arranged on a dark green 21st century towel.

No matter which 'Odyssey' translation you read, there is an overwhelming presence of enslaved men, women, and children. M.I. Finley's study, 'The World of Odysseus' takes on this issue in chapter 3, 'Wealth & Labour'. Reprints of this book are starting to appear. #Slavery #TheOdyssey #BookSky 📚
This is the book cover of the 1978 hardback edition of M. I. Finley's The World of Odysseus. It was an revised edition from his 1954 first edition. The revisions are contained in a final chapter reflecting additional historical discoveries and social change. The book jacket is dark red, with white script. In the middle of the cover is an outline of a Greek ship on a dark golden yellow.Photo of the paperback cover of Emily Wilson's translation of The Odyssey. The top of the cover is an artist's interpretation of an ancient Minoan mural restored on the island of Crete. The women appear to be dancing in blue and gold matching robes, with golden diadems holding their long black hair. The center of the cover is white with the title and translator's name center in bold type. The bottom has a golden line with uniform blue waves across.
