YoshiP literally said this at a panel. There is no "everything takes place in a year" time bubble. It's "we're pretending the passage of time doesn't exist. but we encourage you to work out your own timelines for your characters." Which I think is a great way to give us creative freedom.

Fandom is still very much on tumblr btw. It's forced to operate differently now because of changes to the TOS but it still is very much there and it's much more conducive to long-form text posting and discussion that doesn't get immediately buried and forgotten.
