My 2026 gaming tierlist - I played a lot of really great games this year! My top three recommendations are: Slay the Princess Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy Shuten Order Everyone should check out those games and give them a try if they're interested, all three are really phenomenal!

Didn't Finish: Gordian Quest (stuck on final battle), Final Fantasy 6 (got fucked so hard by an autosave I took a rage break from it and haven't gone back yet but I will eventually)
Dropped: Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth (what a fucking boring-ass slog)

Husband and I spent a cozy evening yesterday reading comics we had been meaning to get to - I read Dissolving Classroom by Junji Ito and then 5 volumes of Nailbiter. Hoooooly shit Nailbiter is so good - if you like horror and The X-Files, give it a go! I'm gonna finish volumes 6-8 today I think.

Attack on Titan. My husband (boyfriend at the time) said he wanted to check out the first episode of an anime while I was visiting and did I want to check it out with him, with no pressure to keep watching if I didn't like it. I said sure and was hooked - we binged the first season that weekend!

My husband isn't a Christmas person but he does indulge me a little. Probably helps that working retail/ecommerce for years mostly ruined my holiday spirit, lol. But here is my apartment-sized tree (new this year!) that I just put up and makes me very happy. 🥰🎄

This is a penguin household first and foremost.

Dropped a game after ~11 hours recently because I just wasn't getting hooked with it and ended up starting 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim instead, which is truly amazing. All you're doing by playing games that just aren't hitting for you is keeping yourself from other amazing games you'll love!

This was one of the earliest games I remember playing other than super old DOS games - truly fantastic game with a great sense of humour. It's obviously very dated now but its story definitely still holds up if you can get past the late 90sness of it all!

I really enjoyed my time with it (and have in fact played nothing else since it came out!) Go play it!

This absolutely sums up my thoughts on chatgpt. I like using my brain! I like being ABLE to use my brain, and studies show the more you rely on chatgpt the less you're able to use your own brain. Right after I finished with the Danganronpa series I wanted more dark edgy stuff so I skipped Ace Attorney, but after The Shell part 3 and Higurashi back to back I wanted something lighter, and this is GREAT! 😄

I am in the endgame of Higurashi (I'm partway through Chapter 8), and holy shiiiiiiiiit this is a gem, and worth every second of my time with it. Very, very glad I gave it another chance after I tried it too early initially (first few hours of Chapter 1 were slow and I got bored, LMAO). 🤣
