TransPRIDE (Trans & non-binary Prostate specific antigen Reference Interval
DEtermination) is a research study to help find the normal levels of the PSA blood test in trans women and non-binary people with prostates.
Prostate specific antigen (PSA) is a blood test that helps detect prostate
problems including cancer.

It is lowered by gender-affirming hormones and surgeries but we do not
know the expected normal levels for trans women and non-binary people.

Knowing the normal PSA blood test level will help doctors to find and treat prostate cancer more quickly in this population.

We are looking for 500 trans women and non-binary people aged 40+ who have been on feminising hormone therapy for at least 3 months, and/or had any kind of bottom surgery, to take part.

Participation involves a blood test for PSA and hormone levels, and short
questionnaires.

Blood test results will be returned, and participants are given a £25 gift
voucher for their time.

the thing that fucks me off is that they seem to present themselves as Medical (& call themselves doctor sometimes too I think). So unless you investigate you think that you're actually seeing a medically-qualified doctor. at least if you go to Karen's Crystal Angel Healing you know it's hippy

the physio didn't know the history of chiro & I said look, I'm all for alternative therapies, within limits, I read tarot cards, but I'm not having someone doing hippy shit to my *spinal column*

I can't remember the exact thing the chiropractor had done to this person's spine but the physio said there was a 7-hour window this client had, where she could be operated on, before they would be paralysed & doubly-incontinent for the rest of her life

oh it's the worst. just the worst. my profound sympathies.

just had a sports massage w someone who is also a physiotherapist. She'd said she'd had a client come in after seeing a chiropractor. she sent client straight to A&E. This has happened before, perhaps the chiropractors round here are no good? I invited her to look up the history of chiropractic 😬

My grandmother worked at the Main Street store for years and Mr. Marcus always talked to my dad when he was a kid. He always emphasized to my dad that business was something you learn on the job so if you go to college, do something in the liberal arts or fine arts to expand your mind.
