Mark Wooldridge @mwooldri.bsky.social · 05/07/2026Am I right in saying the Washington Metro is air conditioned? I would like to place a bet that those wouldn't survive the London Underground on a "warm" day. The days it's not legal to carry livestock on the underground. 000 0
Mark Wooldridge @mwooldri.bsky.social · 17/01/2026Neighbour also needs an accompanying sign. "This family does not call 911" and a picture of an AR-15. Yes a bit of a conflicting message but it might make some people think twice. 012 2
Mark Wooldridge @mwooldri.bsky.social · 27/11/2025Of course they would. The legislators had a big say in getting the justices on the NC Supreme Court in the first place. Partisan judges. Eurgh. 010 1
Mark Wooldridge @mwooldri.bsky.social · 08/10/2025Wifey has NewsNation on cos she likes Chris Cuomo. But a lot of nights Leland's show feels like Fox News Lite. And she falls asleep with the TV on so we have Cuomo, Vittert and Banfield on a loop. All night :( "Ok Google play BBC World Service on BBC Sounds" needs to be uttered more often... 010 1
Mark Wooldridge @mwooldri.bsky.social · 08/10/2025While this seems like good news, please let's not get complacent. 000 0
Mark Wooldridge @mwooldri.bsky.social · 02/10/2025There is a way out. But MAGAs don't want to do it. Majority leader Thune can simply get his caucus to change the Senate rules to make it a simple majority rather than a 60 vote one. Then they can pass whatever spending bill they want. 000 0
Mark Wooldridge @mwooldri.bsky.social · 02/10/2025Yet those same MAGA Senators won't do the same to pass a resolution to keep the government open. It's in their power to do so. We know where their priorities lie and it's not in service to the American people. 1194 19
Mark Wooldridge @mwooldri.bsky.social · 02/10/2025Would it be true that "emergency Medicaid" reimburses hospitals for anyone, not just undocumented? I'm not 100% clear how it works. And wouldn't it be a state by state thing? 100 1
Mark Wooldridge @mwooldri.bsky.social · 02/10/2025If the MAGA party didn't really want to shut down the government, the 53 MAGA Senators could change the Senate rules, pass what they want and the government stays "open". Either the MAGA Senators want to keep the 60 vote rule or they want to do political posturing. Maybe both. 140 4
Mark Wooldridge @mwooldri.bsky.social · 02/10/2025He's however tied to Nexstar. The media conglomerate that decided it should preempt Jimmy Kimmel. 020 2
Mark Wooldridge @mwooldri.bsky.social · 21/08/2025Sirius XM have two main stations for classic rock. Classic Vinyl for the 60s and 70s. Classic Rewind for 70s and 80s and a bit of 90s. Plus a good classic is timeless IMO. 120 2
Mark Wooldridge @mwooldri.bsky.social · 21/08/2025Then please feel some pity for those in the EDM scene. Dance music from the 1990s is "classic". But thankfully house, hip-hop and such from the 1970s and 1980s is just called Old School... And Disco is erm... Disco. 040 4
Mark Wooldridge @mwooldri.bsky.social · 17/07/2025Is this explaining why it's bloody hot the other side of the pond too? 010 1
Mark Wooldridge @mwooldri.bsky.social · 17/07/2025Hmm. Maybe Canada should threaten to open talks with the EU about joining the single market and customs union. 031 3

Mark Wooldridge @mwooldri.bsky.social · 15/06/2025And then coverage of the US Army's 250th Birthday Parade, which Leland anchored. If the No Kings protests were mentioned at that time, it was basically the situation in LA, never the hundreds of other peaceful marches and demonstrations. So yeah, I feel they have lurched rightwards. 4/4 010 1
Mark Wooldridge @mwooldri.bsky.social · 15/06/2025...those opinions need to be left at the door and all sides need to be represented. My biggest bug bear is Leland Vittert. Yes he's ex Fox News but the guy doesn't seem to have checked out of Fox News. His show seems so Fox Lite to me. 3/4 110 1
Mark Wooldridge @mwooldri.bsky.social · 15/06/2025Chris Cuomo - when Israel had their air raids into Iran - I did not hear anything from the Iranian side on his show. Very pro Israel. When it's Israel and Palestinian issues the Palestinian voice is absent. It's OK to be a supporter of Israel. As a news anchor of a balanced network... 2/4 100 1
Mark Wooldridge @mwooldri.bsky.social · 15/06/2025While my wifey likes watching @newsnation.bsky.social especially @chrisccuomo.bsky.social I'm thinking they've lurched to the right. Mark Wooldridge @mwooldri.bsky.social · 08/05/2025It is interesting to note that Carrol O'Connor and Warren Mitchell (who played Archie Bunker and Alf Garnett in All in the Family and Til Death Do Us Part) were both liberal (Warren way left of liberal) in their political views ... Mark Wooldridge @mwooldri.bsky.social · 08/04/2025I don't know enough about the satellite stations not Channel 5.... I suspect that they did not close to an anthem. 4/4. 010 1
Mark Wooldridge @mwooldri.bsky.social · 08/04/2025Interestingly, HTV Cymru/Wales routinely closed down with the Welsh and British national anthem. Grampian closed to the Saltire but UK anthem. Odd that ATV Midlands closed with the anthem but Central never did. So the national anthem close in UK was never universal. 3/4 110 1
Mark Wooldridge @mwooldri.bsky.social · 08/04/2025Now ITV stations ... Depended on which franchise. Thames, Border, Granada, Yorkshire, Tyne Tees and Central never routinely closed with the national anthem. I don't know about Rediffusion London, ABC Weekend, TWW or Teledu Cymru as I can't find examples easily. 2/4 110 1
Mark Wooldridge @mwooldri.bsky.social · 08/04/2025Who dictates what a major TV station is? BBC 2 did not routinely play the national anthem at closedown. BBC 1 did, when they had closedowns. Channel 4 did occasionally at the start of their service but it's not routine. 1/4 120 2
Mark Wooldridge @mwooldri.bsky.social · 08/04/2025Just as a point.... The BBC do play the UK national anthem at "closedown"... On BBC Radio 4. Just before 1 am. Right before hand over to the World Service. 120 2

Mark Wooldridge @mwooldri.bsky.social · 31/03/2025The answer is simple... Trinity College complies with Irish and EU law. The US "Administration" can infer from that what they will.... If they're capable of that. 100 1
