Shinichiro Watanabe : "I paid a lot of attention to skin color. Also to using multiple languages. Lots of times when you watch anime, the characters all have white skin — all the characters in fantasy stories all have white skin, which I never liked," Watanabe said: Cowboy Bebop The Jazz Messengers

I never posted this here, but I made a pretty big write-up over on Tumblr for anyone interested in learning #pixelart! It's a guide on software, fundamentals, jargon and resources. Since links are legal on Bsky I can share it: www.tumblr.com/tofupixel/75... #tutorial Hope someone finds it useful!

A screenshot of a tumblr post reading:

"Title: So you want to learn pixel art?
Subtitle: Part 1 of ??? - The Basics!

Hello, my name is Tofu and I'm a professional pixel artist. I have been supporting myself with freelance pixel art since 2020, when I was let go from my job during the pandemic."

Two images comparing artistic improvement, the left is of a rudimentary tree, and the right is of a statue in a wall recess surrounded by plants and dappled light.

"My progress, from 2017 to 2024. IMO the only thing that really matters is time and effort, not some kind of natural talent for art.

This guide will not be comprehensive, as nobody should be expected to read allat. Instead I will lean heavily on my own experience, and share what worked for me, so take everything with a grain of salt. This is a guide, not a tutorial. Cheers!"

Finally had a whole day to myself to test out the new tablet and just enjoy drawing my small family of two 👨‍👦. I haven't mentioned their names till now, so everyone, meet Achilles (41) and Casper (14). #OC #art #DND

The image depicts and older father figure tiefling softly touching the head of a younger, disgruntled, tiefling. The older character is missing an arm while the younger one is carrying a backpack for both of them.

I've been teaching art for years. What holds you back isn't your inability to learn theory. It's a lack of: - Clarity of your goal & WHY you want it - Belief in yourself - A simplified roadmap - More action, less overthinking - More objective analysis of your mistakes

Wrote about the adaptation of Dandadan's first arc! Its rookie director has shown tremendous commitment to a vision that makes his job more complicated, but grants the series' madness a curious, unbreakable sense of logic. Lots of imagination, filling in the gaps, and navigating tricky situations

Sharing my free Xerox Pencil brush for Clip Studio Paint here! There are also dupes of it for Procreate and ToonBoom. For an extra crunchy look like in the 2nd pic of my character Louise, rasterize the layer and then revectorize it. Download: lookssketchy.neocities.org #art

A cropped screencap of a website that says "Looks Sketchy - Just sharing art things by Chance Kubesh" at the top. Below the site title is a subheader that says "Xerox Pencil - a brush for Clip Studio Paint" with an example drawing of an anime girl using the brush. It looks gritty as if photocopied.

A cropped image of two images of a busty 90s anime-style lady, named Louise, using the Xerox Pencil brush. Yes, her back hurts.

What is common knowledge in your field, but shocks outsiders? 3d animation is closer to stop motion animation in how it's made, than it is to traditional drawn 2d animation. We just have extremely fine control over our "armatures".
