@mutasima.bsky.social and I got tired of successive new rounds of U.S. targeted sanctions that focus on the Colombian mercenaries supporting Sudan's brutal RSF -- yet fail to touch or even reference the Emirati players who have repeatedly been shown to be providing those mercenaries to the RSF.

Sudan’s war is largely fueled by mercenaries, proxies, transnational networks, and other States, including the UAE, write Mutasim Ali and Yonah Diamond. To end the atrocities, the international community must work towards ending the violence by cutting it off at the source:

8 years ago today, Canada adopted the Justice for Victims of Corrupt Foreign Officials Act (Sergei #Magnitsky Law) — a landmark in the fight against global corruption and human rights abuses. We’re proud to have helped make it happen — and to keep driving its impact forward.

In response to the execution of unarmed civilians in Omdurman today, Hemedti’s advisor said “This is how we’ll operate moving forward.” Committing atrocities is the RSF’s DNA. But for senior advisors to condone & celebrate them suggests something deeper. +

The RSF militias employ a genocidal methodology that typically begins with targeting service facilities, killing medical doctors, imposing sieges, and using heavy artillery shelling. This strategy renders those attempting to flee vulnerable and devoid of resistance. +

It is around this same time 2 yrs ago when the RSF & allied militias began the genocide in El Geniena & Ardamata. They are now repeating the same thing in El Fasher & Zamazam. We all know this and it’s preventable. This makes us complicit.

SAF's airstrikes against Sudanese civilians in Darfur are deliberate and are impossible to justify as collateral damage. These attacks amount to WC, CAH, and potentially genocidal. www.dailysabah.com/world/africa...

Authorities in both democracies and autocracies have collaborated with perpetrator states to detain, deport, or extradite targeted dissidents. Detention is the most common tactic of direct, physical #transnationalrepression, accounting for 503 cases (41%) in our database.

The ongoing pattern of arbitrary detention, incarceration, and the use of the death penalty against activists, religious and ethnic minorities, and human rights defenders in Iran is of grave concern. #HumanRights #Iran #KurdishWomen #Freedom
