My brother has a fairly uncommon name - in 31yrs I've only met/heard of 5 other ppl with the same name. Including a coworker's son, a coworker w/ whom I got on very well. Left that job 7 yrs ago, & only TODAY realised it never even crossed my mind to tell her my brother shares a name with her son.

I'm no fan of spiders but watching one grooming itself at a mutually acceptable distance (up in the corner of the bathroom window) is actually quite cool. Still much prefer to watch ladybirds or moths grooming themselves though. Or bees, on the rare occasion I get to sit outside 😎

Someone cleverer than I needs to rework John Finnemore's 'Put It on a Plate' song to 'Write The Pattern Down' (or 'Out'). So-called video patterns for crochet (and knitting and probably other textile arts, I guess) are an absolute nightmare to follow and impossible to refer back to.

Just discovered google thinks I'm selling prescription drugs because some of my keyring cards cover needing taking insulin! Not quite sure how this was mistaken for selling actual insulin...but hey, anything is possible with AI making the decisions.

Alright, not only is 12 days between appointments not enough, but turns out my brain can't cope w/ ticket machines unless I already know *exactly* what ticket I need 😒 Thankfully my mistake didn't cost a huge amount but it's more than my tube fares were going to be. Frustrating. (I'm so tired 😫)

The final of #Taskmaster yesterday was exceptional. My favourite final ever - with new episodes, usually I immediately rewatch, but this one … I'm still savouring the joy & how exquisite it was 🥹 (+ also if I don't rewatch then it's not real and we haven't *really* finished with this cast, right?)

6.15am. SIX. FIFTEEN. A.M. That's what time our neighbour started using the leaf blower. It's a sound that makes me irrationally angry, I've accepted that my brain just overreacts to it even with ear defenders, but in this instance - 6:15am!!!!!! - I think my feelings towards it are justifiable.

Finally encountered a situation where dual screens would be useful - for watching two live webcam streams, one of the active ferry terminal and then the other which happens to cover the berth where the inactive ferries sit whilst off-duty. I daren't even look at what rail webcams there might be 🤣😅

Look, it's me! Now seems as good a time as any to share my notes from the recording of Taskmaster S21E1. Will attempt details yet brevity. Long thread ahoy … - We had to pinky promise not to tell anything anything before broadcast, "especially not reddit".

My head and everyone else's in those first couple of rows are obscured by the table.

Oh, I see the utility of powered yarn winders now. I did NOT think through trying to wind 3,000m of silk on a hand-cranked winder 😭 Plus then 1200m of merino to wind, at some point before we go away on holiday. I wonder if I can give up after a bit and retie what's left of the hank 🤔 #crochet

In our postgraduate work room we have a ‘Dark Library’ where we put dodgy or offensive books. One of Uta Frith’s books on autism is there. We take it down to laugh as most of us are neurodivergent, but it does say something about how seriously you should take her opinions on autism.
