Anybody else remember X Operations, the Japanese freeware jankfest FPS from the early 00s? Feels like if it came out today it would sit right alongside deliberately wonky retro fare like Cruelty Squad.

For any who need to hear this: the game industry can be a cruel & hard place. It's particularly bad right now. If you can't find work it's not necessarily a judgement on you. There are a lot of talented, experienced, & genuinely lovely folks who are also having trouble. You're in good company.

A note which may help some game folks. there are only so many games you can make in your lifetime. Things will arise- project cancellations, job change, family, finances, health issues, and even your own work ethic. If you are really lucky, you get to ship a game start to finish. Treasure those.
