I really hated that job and culture and it was so depressing working towards my next role as they were a huge company that moved people round every 18 months so we'd know the whole operation. I had the most toxic boss at a shit company ever and handed my notice in with no plan except to go contracting. They couldn't replace me during my notice period so my first contract was doing my old job at double the pay. I said what my new rate was and they only agreed at 4pm on my last day

Approached as a $20 (or $200 for true bros) subscription to do a few tasks per week that you otherwise couldn't, it's an OK deal, like Netflix is. But if they try to become profitable by actually charging their stated prices, well Chinese open source (and torrents) still exist.

The closed US models are literally in excess of 100 times more expensive than open source hosted. I use Claude Pro for my charity, it's very good. But I let it use some promo credit and one simple code & documentation reply cost ~£3. DeepSeek would been pennies. Usage allowances hide crazy costs.
