Well, there’s a story.

When Nazi Germany invaded Denmark in World War II, the Hungarian chemist George de Hevesy dissolved the gold Nobel Prizes of Max von Laue and James Franck in aqua regia to prevent the Nazis from stealing them. He placed the resulting solution on a shelf in his laboratory at the Niels Bohr Institute. After the war, he returned to find the solution undisturbed and precipitated the gold out of the acid. The Nobel Society then recast the Nobel Prizes using the original gold.

Absolutely. Jay Griffiths said it's up to the writing community to spread the message of how close to the edge we are. Much as we respect the scientists, they don't make it interesting and we need our interest held enough to listen and to try to make a difference. I'm only a student, but I'll try!

Day 7 of this bloody awful cough/cold. Yesterday, I could barely breathe and I contacted GP. I was told to complete an online triage form and then received word they would get back to me within 2 days. Phone call this morning at 8.15. The doc asked me about breathing. I said 'yes, I am.'

Thank you - a very long read but so important. Wow, just wow! We recycle, get our milk in bottles from the local farm, more expensive, but delicious and the farmer gets the pennies. But I just feel we're so bloody doomed. Thank you for making me more aware. x

I've discovered that I'm a lady of a certain age. Sitting with my husband last night and he started kissing me arm, said that I smelled nice and it reminded him of that lovely old lady scent, like talc!!! So, apparently I now smell like a grandma. I'm 63. Goodness, I didn't feel that old 😂
