Despite easily being the most British fighting vehicle ever developed, the mock-Tudor AT-AT programme was sadly cancelled due to budgetary concerns
The Old Wellington Inn in Manchester, being jacked up on stilts to the new street level during redevelopment. It definitely looks like it's about to waddle out of the picture.

I basically think changing your system to incorporate a low touch striker only makes sense if they're as good as Haaland, and I think he's quite far below that

Honestly the biggest positive might be the refs not deciding the game. Legit glad neither of our weak penalty appeals were given

Very disappointing how many have decided to anchor their analysis to Gary Neville. It was tight, we lost, Liverpool essentially held serve, game on

I agree on Gyokeres. I'm worried

Martinelli was crap but I think Madueke was a huge threat especially in the first half. He could have made chances quite easily. Re Eze, I'm pretty sure we've bought him as a winger and not a #10

I agree. Get it done (for you, Danny and all of us)

Actually WelBack would be the best

Jackson on loan would be ideal. Watkins too but even more unlikely

I was rifling through the loft and stumbled across a pile of old Arsenal membership packs dating back 20 years. Amid the bits of tat, you could see there was once a genuine effort to give supporters something extra that made you feel part of the / a club.

Lovely stuff. As ever my excitement will melt into indecision when I'm hungry. Hopefully my panicked ordering decision is a good one

Yep, think we should hopefully get out of work for both games. im also hoping and praying for a fine array of food trucks

Love the traffic lights example. Australians love to see themselves as a bit anti authority, but they slavishly obey pedestrian traffic controls

My positive thread on why I actually think we'll be good next season. 1. We came 2nd and narrowly went out of the CL despite cataclysmic injuries. By standing still we could actually get better.

Yeah we have protected the floor pretty well. Although cluster injuries have a great tendency to reveal squad weaknesses nobody was aware of

13. A clear summer and players missing chunks of last season. Liverpool maxed out their players last season while ours chilled on the treatment table. Chelsea and City farting around in America for the CWC over summer is mad

12. Norgaard as a perfectly adequate backup and great closer. I don't want him in the xi for 3 months but there's games where can rotate out Zubi. Most of all we can sub off Zubi to save his legs, and Norgaard will be great for holding onto a lead

11. As the younguns would say, we're sleeping on Havertz. I get the frustration but as well as all the build up and and pressing work, he always gets chances. And despite looking like a horse when he fluffs his lines, he hits his XG over a season

James Morgan @mulletrider.bsky.social · 07/08/2025
10. We probably ain't done yet in the transfer market and I reckon one more probably comes in. An Eze or a direct winger would make us better, both would make us much better
100 1
James Morgan @mulletrider.bsky.social · 07/08/2025
9. Everyone else's business is a bit weird. I don't believe in City's recruitment at all. My lukewarm take on Liverpool is they building a generational attack at the cost of a solid backbone next season. Again, us standing still can be moving forwards
100 1
James Morgan @mulletrider.bsky.social · 07/08/2025
8. Merino as super sub. He's primarily a Rice backup and he we need him to deputise for 3 months we're in trouble. But crashing the box as a late sub his late winners could become cult and legend

James Morgan @mulletrider.bsky.social · 07/08/2025
7. Zubimendi, and maybe Calafirori, can transform our attack simply by doing things quickly. The former should also allow us to play further up the pitch. If the latter becomes a regular starter he scores serious goals
100 1
James Morgan @mulletrider.bsky.social · 07/08/2025
6. Nwaneri had a massively impact despite being incredibly green. Another area where by standing still we can improve. He can't replicate Odegaard, but he might offer something different
100 1
James Morgan @mulletrider.bsky.social · 07/08/2025
5. Going back to depth, we never had power up options off the bench last season. Nwaneri at best. This season we might see Madueke, Gyokeres, and Eze as a triple sub when the chips are down
110 1
James Morgan @mulletrider.bsky.social · 07/08/2025
4. Most often we had one serious full back option available but it's a role that needs minute sharing within and between games. The full back profiles are wonderfully varied, Arteta will relish the chance of horses for courses
110 1
James Morgan @mulletrider.bsky.social · 07/08/2025
3. We've got the best defenders and best defensive shape and these things are unlikely to change. It's a young defence too, so again, standing still improves us
100 1
James Morgan @mulletrider.bsky.social · 07/08/2025
2. Last season' problems were the floor bottoming out during injury and fatigue crises. We've addressed this with depth, we should have a better January because of it

It'll be so so depressing if we get the 'cluster casualties' and see everyone out of position or with massive skillset shortages in the xi

James Morgan @mulletrider.bsky.social · 07/08/2025
I'm optimistic on rice and Zubimendi dove tailing, but it's a bit of an awkward fit for sure. And remains a mystery to me whether in an ideal world Arteta plays two attacking 8s

James Morgan @mulletrider.bsky.social · 07/08/2025
Use Nwaneri make chances and finish them. I'm not sure how we achieve that without other players going deeper
100 1
James Morgan @mulletrider.bsky.social · 07/08/2025
Nwaneri, Gyokeres, Madueke, Eze if he comes all lime a shot. Pretty clear difference. I guess my thought with Nwaneri is he needs freedom to Roma rather than holding structure and he needs to be further up than ode tends to be. We'd need to channel possession through other ppl.... And

James Morgan @mulletrider.bsky.social · 07/08/2025
I guess I. Saying Nwaneri a bit further up, Rice a bit deeper. But you're right, fluid attack and moving the ball quicker might be key (with or without Nwaneri)
100 1
James Morgan @mulletrider.bsky.social · 07/08/2025
Yeah it's a big worry. I haven't watched all of pre-season but in general we don't look physically ready. Maybe the same for all teams I worry Nwaneri isn't ready for the role - maybe if we go 4-2-3-1 it would help accommodate him

6. We don't find takers for either Trossard or Martinelli meaning no new signing on the left and continued frustration

James Morgan @mulletrider.bsky.social · 07/08/2025
5. MLS experiences a wobble in his development, gets sent off a few times and we concede big goals with him caught on the ball. Meanwhile Ricahiro Caliaysu becomes a perma-croc so we can't take MLS out the firing line

4. We suffer reffing nonsense and the carra/Neville industrial complex gaslights us to oblivion. Talking about football outside our bubbles becomes insufferable
100 1
James Morgan @mulletrider.bsky.social · 07/08/2025
3. Only Zubimendi of the new signings fits in. Arteta can't adapt the system to accommodate Gyokeres and Eze and the fans are incensed that he won't start his new signings. Meanwhile Martinelli keeps his place for structure sake and Madueke barely gets a sniff
