⏱️ How long does an image feel as though it lasts? Research using Van Gogh paintings finds that perceived duration varies with visual features such as brightness, texture & structural complexity. Chronotype & day length also play a role. 🎨 Our sense of time depends on both what we see & when.

The sense of ownership and agency stem from proprioception, the sensory root of self-awareness. In a group of 46 right-brain-damaged patients, the disruption of a bilateral parietal network underlies proprioceptive deficits leading to ownership disorders and anosognosia for hemiplegia.

Just published some work at Scientific Reports! We investigated visual adaptation following free viewing of a film (Casablanca) that had its oriented contrast altered. To our surprise, we found adaptation effects to be pretty negligible… www.nature.com/articles/s41... 1/10
