There was more than one Imperial Seal. Both of the Yuan "brothers" acquired one. Yuan Shao wanted to use his to create a new Emperor (the candidate being a Prince named Liu Yu --who was later killed by Gongsun Zan). Yuan Shu used his seal to claim himself Emperor, which backfired tremendously.

Sun Ce's military was haphazardly organized, and when Sun Quan took over, he needed to fix it. He went around inspecting and interviewing his officers. One of which was Lu Meng. Lu Meng was determined to make a good impression on his new boss and had his soldiers all dressed up in fancy red armor.

In the wake of Dong Zhuo's death, Yuan Shu used his family fame to leverage a prestigious title for himself. When the official showed up to authorize it, Yuan Shu had him thrown in prison and stole his seal/stamp. Yuan Shu then started issuing "official" promotions to his homies, including Sun Ce.

Cao Rui was also "in charge" (🤨) of Wei during Zhuge Liang's famous "Northern Expeditions", so any stages in Dynasty Warriors pitting Zooge against KOW KOW or KOW PEE aren't accurate because the former had been dead for eight years and the latter has been dead for two.

Cao Rui was Cao Cao's grandson and the second emperor of Wei. He was the "son" of Cao Pi and Zhenji, though he may have actually been Yuan Xi's son (Zhenji's previous husband). "Rui" is a name I don't think I'll ever be able to pronounce. Is there anyone who can write it out phonetically for me? 😆

I'm binging Three Kingdoms content again. One thing I appreciate about DW3 Remaster is that how it doesn't feel as padded as modern games. I guess back in 2001 games weren't designed to waste your time as much. (gotta keep people around so they'll buy the DLC!)

In the games Huang Gai is typically depicted as an intense old man. Usually a beefcake. One thing about Dynasty Warriors is that none of the games convey how much time passes between stages very well. For instance, there are 37 years between Stage 1 and Stage 4 of Huang Gai's DW3 story mode.

I've been playing the "Dynasty Warriors 3 Remaster" lately. Starting off with Huang Gai. Huang Gai in Dynasty Warriors is really a hodgepodge of Han Dang, Cheng Pu, Zhu Zhi, and himself. The IRL Huang Gai was a popular, but relatively minor official who served under the Sun clan for a long time.

I'm watching a "behind the scenes" thing about Jabba, and before they dubbed his voice over in Huttese, they had him speaking in English. He has a pretty cool voice and one thing he says to Luke is "I was killing your kind back when it meant something to be a Jedi." That's a pretty cold line.

I named Cid "Yossarian" because Catch-22 is my favorite book, and I've been reading it lately. Yossarian is a pilot, which fits Cid. Yossarian was also played by Alan Arkin in the movie adaptation. Alan Arkin also played Peevy in "The Rocketeer", who was an engineer. It's a deep cut.

I read that Yuffie was originally intended to be an Ex-SOLDIER/Bounty Hunter who was tasked with hunting Cloud, eventually joining the party. Maybe that's the reason some of her limit breaks have Metal As Fuck names like "BLOODFEST" and "ALL CREATION" instead of cutesy, ninja-girl names.

I did not pay nearly enough attention to the Enemy Skill materia back when I played this game as a kid. I think "Big Guard" is one of the best skills in the game, and you can get it so early!
