My LinkedIn job search alert for "systematic reviews" is continuously and more frequently returning sales jobs that "systematically review" their area. One of us is Vizzini.

Fun fact about proximity search in #PubMed : stop words (e.g., the, of, kg, with, etc.) are counted, not overlooked. That means if you are using proximity to find phrases like "cancer of the bladder" or similar, your proximity N will need to account for the stop words. #medlibs

Okay #librarians, what is your favorite hack for quickly answering references questions outside of your area of expertise? I'll go first: Google the topic and add "liguide" to the search. Pretty much guaranteed to have a well researched and open overview of a topic.

dear #medlibs, I am struggling to articulate, but, has anyone else noticed the glaring absence of humanism in the whether-to-use-AI clinical decision trees? I feel super weird being the only one in the room being like "What about cultural norms/expectations? Empathy?...No?"

Public repositories like #OpenScienceFramework are a great option for long-term storage of supplemental materials for your #evidencesynthesis or #systematicreview project. You could upload - Final database searches, reported according to PRISMA-S(earching) - All PRISMA checklists - Results libraries

As an aside - I do wish researchers working on search-related projects would include information retrieval experts (i.e. #librarians or information specialists), as we have lots of expertise to contribute on such a project.

Could the universities and academics please stop asking students to conduct systematic reviews and meta-analyses? Students can perhaps be expected to critically evaluate a single study at that stage, but a proper systematic review requires real expertise. Ditto meta-analysis.

Okay #medlibs and #canmedlibs, contract work for searching. Which are you more likely to do: 1. run it as a freelance / small business for yourself, 2. take positions where the "business" side of things is handled by the employer, 3. something else? I'd love your thoughts.

#Reproducible search #Reporting is not just for #EvidenceSynthesis reviews. It should be required for studies about search methods; the search strategy is the data collection instrument. How can you #PeerReview a study about search methods if the searches are not provided? Where was #Reviewer2 😅
