Most people in the US have no idea about the attacks on federally funded science or our government institutions. Many (or most!) of your family, coworkers, neighbors, and friends have no idea. My own MAGA dad thinks DOGE is just identifying waste, and that nothing has been cut. We have to tell them.

This comment on r/fednews really stood out to me. Trump and Musk want people to think they're firing do-nothing "bureaucrats," but they're really getting rid of people dedicated to serving this country and keeping it operational. I hope these stories get told.

I lost my job. USDA Forest Service.

My probation was up next week.

I did everything right. I took a GS-7 role with a master’s degree just to get my foot in the door. I spent years doing seasonal fieldwork for low pay, working in remote places, gaining experience, and building skills, just for a chance at a permanent position. I was about to be a GS-9. I wrote NEPA reports. I conducted field surveys. I worked fire support. I dedicated myself to this work because I believed in it.

Public lands don’t manage themselves. The wildlife, watersheds, and forests we protect don’t just stay protected without people on the ground making it happen. My coworkers and I took on that responsibility, often in places most people never think about but that matter more than they know.

And now? Just like that, I’m out.

Edit: I’ve consistently supported progressive policies and have voted Democrat in every national and local election since I was 18. I do appreciate folks asking, I have some coworker having a serious 'leopards ate my face' moment right now.

The plaintiffs have also satisfied the other preliminary-injunction factors. Each plaintiff
faces irreparable harm, the defendants face none, and the public interest favors enjoining the EO.
Accordingly, the plaintiffs in each case are entitled to an injunction preventing implementation
of the EO. The individual and two associations who are plaintiffs in the earlier-filed action will
be fully protected by an injunction limited to the individual and the members of the associations.
The later-filed case, brought by eighteen states and two cities, requires a broader, nationwide
injunction. Applying traditional equity principles, such relief is necessary because the record
establishes that the harms these plaintiffs face arise not only from births within their borders, but
also when children born elsewhere return or move to one of the plaintiff jurisdictions.
For these reasons, the plaintiffs’ motions are ALLOWED. This ruling, explained further
below and memorialized in separate Orders issued concurrently with this Memorandum, is based
on straightforward application of settled Supreme Court precedent reiterated and reaffirmed in
various ways for more than a century by all three branches of the federal government.

The AP should stop covering Trump events. Instead send those White House reporters out into the field to report on the harms and repercussions of his policies. The U.S. public never needed coverage of pseudo-events anyway.
