I've been playing Catfishing lately, and I felt pure delight a few days ago when the book I'm currently in the middle of was one of the answers (Neuromancer). Imagine my additional delight when one of today's answers was a book I read just a few months ago. 🪐📚💙

The world is trash, so have this very goofy insta post that has lived rent-free in my head for almost 6 years. (I miss having a hedgie around.)

I'd love to see all the folks who were already having conniptions over common core math try to help their kids do math homework using the Roman numeral system.
A poll on X asking "Should Zohran Mamdani implement Arabic Numerals in the New York school system?" 52,831 people responded with a result of 57.1% "No" to 42.9% "Yes." The poll was posted November 16, 2025 by @therabbithole.

We got our first dusting of snow for the evening, it's not even particularly cold yet, but looks like they can't handle it.

Today in unhinged opinions on the internet, someone thinks Chicagoans should be turning ICE abductions into dance parties.
Responder 1 says, in short, they're surprised how boring Chicagoans' response has been to ICE in the city, and they think the response should be a party with dance music and disco balls.
Responder 2 says, in short, the response videos they've seen are unplanned, as it's people coming out of their homes when something is happening.
Responder 1 says, in short, that people should be having fun and making fun of ICE agents. Responder 2 says, in short, the situation is terrifying, not fun, because ICE agents aren't just marching through their streets, they're actually abducting people, throwing tear gas, and injuring people.
Responder 1 says, in short, that you can't let the terror overtake you.
Responder 2 says, in short, that just because Chicagoans aren't partying while their neighbors are being abducted, that doesn't mean they aren't partying ever.

Every once in a while, I look up reviews of books or movies I detested, and check the 1-star reviews. Took me a minute to stop laughing about this one re: Project Hail Mary.
1-star Goodreads review that says simply, "Project Unpublish This". There's a comment beneath that asks, "What's your beef with this one?" The reviewer replied, "My beef is that it is ass".

My favorite piece of protest art. Saw these prints pasted around the Logan Square neighborhood of Chicago when I moved here 10 years ago and felt the need to track down the artist to see if I could buy one. Wish I could remember the artist's name or handle. @ologies.bsky.social
A framed screenprint on white paper. The background is cyan blue and says "WE ARE STILL SO FUCKED" in negative space. Superimposed over the words is a hand holding a test tube of green liquid. The liquid is being poured into an outline of the earth, below the words. The earth is all blue, but the liquid from the test tube is filling in the ocean with green.

Look, I was annoyed when I heard Bluesky would be implementing this... But then they managed to do it in a way that (at least so far) is completely fine with me by simply giving me the option to ACTUALLY opt out. Unlike every other social media site I've had to ditch.

Seriously though. There are a handful of things that'll get me not to add it (certain genres and tropes I don't enjoy), but most people DO go for those things so it's not really a problem. :cries looking at my Libby app for all the books I'll never get to:
A screenshot of a "To read" tag on the Libby app that has 564 books and 1 audiobook tagged.

This seemed like such an unexpected, unhinged dress until I realized it was designed for nursing.
At first glance, an image of three dresses that just have large holes that would leave one breast uncovered. On second glance, the breast would normally be covered but the dress is designed to be able to easily uncover it for nursing.

Of all the apocalyptic speculative fiction I've read over the years, @paolobacigalupi.bsky.social's "The Water Knife" is the one that all too frequently feels impending. (Also, unintentionally reading that book just before finally reading "Dune" was a trip.)
